I was flicking between the Q Music Channel and the Derby - West Brom game earlier today. They were counting down the 40 greatest UK bands, but the list was a bit of a farce tbh. the Kooks, The View, Snow Patrol and countless other bands featured, but few were actually proper legendary bands (I think the Sex Pistols and Def Leppard made an appearance).

 

Anyway, Razorlight made the top 10 in the list (no.9 i think), beating a lot of other very good British bands.. what do you all think as i'm a bit unsure myself tbh :unsure:

Hmmmm, I think the Q thing was actually compiled by the people from Q Music, hence why Franz Ferdinand, the Stereophonics and Kasabian amongst others got in

 

Dont get me wrong, they're all cracking bands, but to be included in the top 40 Greatest UK Bands list is a bit much :huh:

No doubt they are great bands.

 

Of course the newer bands are going to included, they're new, they want to appeal to the younger end of the market so they put pictures of Franz, Kasabian on the front cover and in the magazine more often than the older bands because the younger end will buy the magazine because of that.

I can sorta understand why Radiohead are in the list, but top 5 is sorta exaggerating things exactly.

 

The View aren't Top 20 material, they've made one mainstream album (To my knowledge).
