Well I know the Arctic Monkeys (Alex especially) were connected to them, but I never knew how much! :o

I know that they helped Alex write Old Yellow Bricks, but is it seriousley true that Alex used to be in a band with a couple of them before the Arctic Monkeys came about, or was that just one great big joke?

I thought their Live Lounge set was BRILLIANT though.

ALL TRUE! Matt and Alex had their first ever gigs in Jon's (Reverend) then band Judan Suki (in late 2002, I think). Jon is the brother of Chris McClure, the bloke on the cover of the monkeys' debut album.

In fact, here's a pic of a certain little scamp playing on stage at The Boardwalk (legendary Sheffield music venue!) with Judan Suki:

Jon is the 'Daddy' of the Sheffield music scene of the noughties but has deliberately delayed releasing any recorded work until the furore surrounding the Monkeys died down a bit. They have every chance of being a massive success, there's loads more hits on the way!

Ah thanks for clearing that up. I didn't quite know whether it was all true, becuase Jon seemed like quite the joker in his interview. I'm glad it's true though.

I didn't know what Jon was the brother of the guy on the album cover though! :o

Heavyweight is number 11 in the Midweeks as well. Very encouraging. The rip of their Live lounge can be found on their official forums (as mp3s aren't allowed here)

It seems like the NME have a new plaything!

Thanks for the tip off about the rips! I loved their version of Trick Me. :D

Trust NME. I do actually think Reverend and the Makers could be pretty big this year though. :o
