Posted June 1, 200718 yr I seem to remember Baytree mentioning D in this context a while back. Nunn Premieres Gone with the Wind in April 2008 Date: 1st June 2007 As previously tipped (See The Goss, 9 Dec 2004), Trevor Nunn will bring Margaret Mitchell’s Pulitzer Prize-winning 1936 literary classic Gone with the Wind to the musical stage. The new adaptation will premiere in April 2008 (previewing from March) at the New London Theatre, where Nunn’s production of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Cats resided for 21 years up to May 2002 and where his Ian McKellen-led Royal Shakespeare Company double bill of King Lear and The Seagull will have a limited season immediately prior to Gone with the Wind (See News, 30 May 2007)
June 2, 200718 yr You know I've never seem 'gone with the wind' :o Seen 'whistle down the wind' many times...not quite the same though...
June 2, 200718 yr wasnt whistle down the wind the one that Loyyd Webber wanted darius for back in the day
June 2, 200718 yr It was. Now, I could watch that but, I really dislike the film of 'Gone with the Wind'. Still if D was in it, I'd have to sit through it. I haven't heard that he's being considered but that's nothing new.
June 2, 200718 yr Author There is a bigger write up on gone with the wind on WOS but I have only posted the first para. It will depend on its music etc. I have a double video of Gone with the wind and the other video shows how it was made and all the auditions for the two main parts, it is quite amazing to see the number of old stars who auditioned and Vivien leigh who was scarlett was virtually unknown at the time of the auditions compared to the others. It would be difficult to replace her I think. I love the musical score from this film and love the film, I can understand why it is always in the top ten of films made. The only part I dont like is Leslie howard, who is just too prissy but Rhett butler (clark gable) is a part to die for.
June 2, 200718 yr Hugh Jackman is apparently at the top of the wish list. He'd be excellent. He may be tempted back into musicals, maybe more readily to Broadway than London. I'd make a special trip for him. I know who I wouldn't want to see play Rhett although they both have great talent and massive fanbases - Michael Ball and John Barrowman, although IMHO Barrowman would make a good Ashley. It's a shame John Owen Jones signed up for another year in Les Mis. I think he would be a great Rhett. Darius, of course, is at the top of my personal wish list but realistically, I don't see it happening. He is still very young compared to most musical theatre leads in mainstream musicals.
June 2, 200718 yr hugh jackman would make a good rett, I even watched some of the x men to catch a glimpse of him, lol I cannot see Michael Ball in any part, I think he is getting to pudgey and looks too boyish, I can see Barrow man as the other lead though
