Dion has biggest debut of '07

Celine Dion may still be in Las Vegas, but Canadians haven't forgotten about her.

Dion's French-language album "D'elles" shot to the top of the Canadian album charts, selling 72,000 copies in its first week, making it the biggest debut of the year, according to data compiled by Nielsen SoundScan Canada. :o :o :o

It marks her tenth No. 1 album in the SoundScan era, and her eighth to debut at the top position.

Dion's high-water mark for Canadian sales remains 1997's "Let's Talk About Love," which had opening week sales of 230,000 -- a record debut which still stands to this day.

Maroon 5 had the unenviable task of going up against Dion this week, but the band managed some decent numbers themselves. Their sophomore album, "It Won't Be Soon Before Long," debuted at No. 2 with sales of 20,000.

All the movement up top forced Linkin Park's "Minutes To Midnight" (18,000) out of the top spot and down to No. 3, and Claude Dubois' "Duos Dubois" from No. 3 to No. 4.

Ozzy Osbourne's latest disc, "Black Rain," had the second-best entry of the week at No. 5, while Michael Buble's "Call Me Irresponsible" went the other way, dropping four notches to No. 6.

The Used's "Lies For the Liars" premiered at No. 7, Avril Lavigne's "The Best Damn Thing" sank four rungs to No. 8, Feist spent her second week at No. 9, and Mika's "Life in Cartoon Motion" hung onto the No. 10 position.

Other notable first-week entries included the French compilation "Chansons a Gogo" at No. 32, The Bravery's "The Sun and the Moon" at No. 34, Tim Armstrong's "A Poet's Life" at No. 37, and the "Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End" soundtrack at No. 42.

In the U.S., Maroon 5 came in at No. 1, followed by Linkin Park in second, Ozzy Osbourne in third, Young Jeezy's "Cold Summer" in fourth, and The Used in fifth.
