June 13, 200718 yr they should as patience and shine were highly promoted an dthey were better singles
June 14, 200718 yr Author Well it has climbed from 190 to 170 in the midweeks. This single is a serious FLOP unless they either pull the physical release or make a last minute media blitz.
June 15, 200718 yr I am sure when it comes out oficially, it will go at least top-3 .But i do think it actually will go to number one even without any promo as TT's fan base is pretty big and will buy\download the single especially because it contains a b-side on it . They also have'nt got a big competition, do they? So i dont see a reason why this single would'nt reach a number one spot.
June 15, 200718 yr I reckon it will be battling for #3 with The Editors. Rihanna & Lee Mead (Joseph winner) - Any Dream Will Do will be the Top 2.
June 16, 200718 yr Author I don't believe Take That have enough die hard fans to get this into the top three. Public awareness of this single is very low. Shine and Patience in comparison were massive radio play hits. This should be around top ten or better a week before the physical release, not the lower depths of the top 200. I'm looking at outside top 20.

So either the sources they're downloading from don't count or there just aren't enough fans out there. As you say - with the nil publicity and promo and the almost non-existent airplay it'll be very lucky if it makes the top 30! Kath
June 16, 200718 yr I agree, it should have been Reach Out or Like I Never Loved You. They're obvious singles!
June 16, 200718 yr I agree, it should have been Reach Out or Like I Never Loved You. They're obvious singles! I really don't think Reach Out would have done much better (if we assume the similar lack of publicity and airplay). I mean it is being released in Germany (and Italy I think) and its dropping off the airplay radar there. Doubtless Take That will sing IWFL at the Diana concert so maybe that'll help awareness of the single and maybe push up sales, and maybe that's why they're not doing any promotion. They aren't getting any younger and they have had a whirlwind last six months or so promoting the album and the first two singles - so maybe their families threatened to desert them if they didn't spend at least a bit of time at home before the tour. Apart from TT fans though - no-one seems aware of the single. I asked in our new HMV shop in Wigan today if the new single was out (yes - I knew already it wasn't until Monday) - but the guy had to look it up on the computer - he didn't know off the top of his head that they were releasing a single right about now. I must say though - I'm glad (or rather - intrigued) they're not doing any promo for the single (although a bit more airplay - or any airplay - would be nice) just to see how one of their records does without it. Robbie Williams did no promo for She's Madonna (although it did have heaps of airplay) and he still managed top 20. Kathy

Robbie Williams did no promo for She's Madonna (although it did have heaps of airplay) and he still managed top 20. Must've just been on a specific channel as it barely scrapped the overall top 40 Airplay Charts in the UK. Yes, Robbie has'nt actually done proper promo (ie. appearing on TV/Radio shows) for a single in the Uk since Advertising Space in 2005 shockingly enough. Rudebox & Lovelight went top 4 & 8 respectivly, although with Sin Sin Sin for example, the video was sent out to tv stations only 4 or 5 days before the physical release, and did'nt start getting plated untill the weekend before, and along with hardly any airplay, so most fans did'nt even know it was the next single, never mind released hence why it did so badly. Trouble is, you'd expect the record company to actually do some advertising on tv etc, in such situations when an act does'nt promote, but they don't seem to be too bothered about singles anymore. Obviously not enough profit, it's only really albums that matter to them. Since shows like Top Of The Pops, CDUK etc, have gone, intrest in singles has gone down imo. Although, here in Ireland, I'd Wait For Life' is getting quite alot of airplay, at least on stations I listen to regularly. It's seems to be doing ok in the UK TV airplay charts, so although it's download position is very poor, I'll still be suprised if it misses the top 10 considering TT's loyal fanbase. I am not keen on the song, find it too boring and think 'Reach out would've been better like the majority of people. It's just more radio friendly.

I mean, when I first got the album - I used to skip from Shine to Ain't no Sense in Love (my personal fave) - however I really like IWFL sung live as it was on Popworld - the harmonies come more to the fore and it just sounds, well, better, and I think this live version is available for download too. We'll have to see how Reach Out does in Germany and Italy before contemplating if that would have been a better decision - although the problem that song faces in Germany and Italy is there isn't even a video to go with it! I'd be happy with your prognosis Scotty - if IWFL gets to top 10. Kathy
June 17, 200718 yr As far as i know, its not even on Itunes yet, thats why the download sales are low at the moment. Once its on Itunes, things will be different. It will definitely go top-3. Im not worried about the single and it WONT flop, trust me. Come on, its TAKE THAT! with or without promo, they surely will do well in the charts! Edited June 17, 200718 yr by locott
June 18, 200718 yr Just got the single today from HMV - the b side ain't bad at all - better than a lot of the current songs inthe top 40. It has to be said though, its even more ELO-esque than Shine was! Kathy Edited June 18, 200718 yr by kathyp
June 19, 200718 yr the fans will see to it that it does well they have a strong core fan base to make it chart high
