Analysis

 

The Music DVD chart sees Embrace steal the top with the Nature’s Law DVD while Now 2006 and Missy fall…Daft Punk and Delta stay where they are this week…The album chart sees 2 re-entries from big former No.1’s, Mariah and DHT while the sole new entry, No Doubt’s The Singles debuts at No.5!!! Elsewhere in the top 20 there are non-movers from hugely long runners Delta and Kelly Clarkson (40 consecutive weeks in the top 10!!!) while Shakira, Corinne and Daft Punk have small slips down the top 10…The top 5 starts with the aforementioned No Doubt pushing The Veronicas back up a spot to No.4!!! Carrie Underwood stays at No.3 in a static top 3 which sees Now 63 stick at No.2…this means that for the third week Nerina Pallot is No.1 with Fires!!!

 

The singles chart sees 5 new entries all going in just below the top 10…they are Dannii Minogue, Nerina Pallot, new singer Laura Michelle Kelly and two Eurovision entrants, Estonia’s Sandra and Daz Sampson for the UK who scores the highest debut at No.12!!! Elsewhere outside the top 10, Shakira, The Veronicas and Carrie Underwood have small slips with long running songs while Beatfreakz and Nerina Pallot have climbers!!! Kate Ryan, Belgian’s Eurovision entrant climbs up to No.10 while the top 9 songs remain the same as last week albeit in a different order…Carrie, The Cardigans and Delta all slide a place each with Nerina down two places with Idaho at No.6…Gnarls Barkley fall to No.5 with Crazy with Embrace down one place to No.4 with Nature’s Law…Sweden’s Eurovision entrant Carola climbs into the top 3 with Invincible while Danish Europop act Infernal have a huge surge to No.2 with From Paris To Berlin!!! This means that once again Nerina does the double and gains a second week in control with the infectious Everybody’s gone to war!!!

***MIDWEEK UPDATE***

 

The singles chart looks set for a minor shake this week with 6 songs currently in an almost eqaul contention for No.1 this week. Hits from Embrace, Gnarls Barkley, Carola and Infernal would all like to knock Nerina Pallot off the top with Daz Sampson also expected to rise into the top 5 this week...with a lack of top 20 new entries, so far only Macedonia's Elena Risteska looks set for a top 20 debut...

 

The album chart looks fairly static but can Nerina Pallot get a 4th week or can competition from No Doubt, Now 63 and the ever-strong Carrie Underwood stop her run?

I've bought Nerina Pallot's Fires this week & I have to say it is the best album I have bought this year & deserves to be massive due to the variety of music within it whilst maintaining a very strong set of songs.
