Posted June 8, 200718 yr Snow Patrol pass 1m US sales marker 07 June 2007 - 15:23:40 Source: Music Week Snow Patrol are today celebrating the news that their fourth album Eyes Open has passed the 1m mark in the US, making it one of the biggest sellers on both sides of the Atlantic. Over-the-counter American sales were up to 1,004,589 and counting this afternoon, helped in no small part by the band’s constant touring – they have played close to 100 shows Stateside in the last 12 months. That tour began quietly, playing to 200 fans a night, to build to the current arena sell-out shows. Snow Patrol’s presence has also helped their previous LP Final Straw continues its own success, with US sales now close to 600,000. In the UK, the band recently enjoyed their highest ever charting single when Signal Fire from the Spiderman 3 soundtrack entered the charts at number four while their upcoming O2 Arena date sold out in just 10 minutes. The US sales have boosted global sales of Eyes Open to in excess of four million units, with sales of 1.9m copies (6x Platinum) in the UK alone. In related news, the band have announced that fans buying tickets for forthcoming Australian shows will each receive a copy of the group’s Final Straw album for free, echoing Prince’s decision to give away copies of his new album with concert tickets last month.
