I see Will is on the Pink List of Influential Gays :D ...at number 75.

I would love to know the names of the 74 who are above him as IMO he should be higher.

Munchkin has posted a link to the list on the previous page. I agree he should be much higher. I see Boy George is at No 86...he won't like Will being higher than him

Thanks for this..he should be much higher of course.. ^_^

75. (NEW) Will Young, Singer/Actor

The Pop Idol winner of 2002 has just debuted in Noël Coward's The Vortex at Manchester's Royal Exchange. He has won two Brit awards and was nominated for Best British Single in 2007 but lost out to Take That. His second and third albums went multi-platinum and he also starred in Mrs Henderson Presents with Judi Dench in 2005

Finally getting round to reading the list I agree he should be a lot higher.

I agree too Mary, though it's nice to see him included. I feel sure like me, most of the general public won't have heard of half of those names, but they will know Will Young.

:cheer: YAY! Nice one, Will! He's certainly amongst good company.

Keep On is the kind of song that by all rights should have the music snobs pulling blank-faces and saying "Wha' happen?" as they roffle on about how amazing it is that a pop star (and a Pop Idol) could make good music. Well, they don't deserve its charms and should return to their Peter Jackson Super Mild indie noise - Keep On is the sort of sophisticated out-and-out pop mentalness that JC Chasez whetted the collective appetite for with Schizophrenic. And, while we're getting heretical all over your face, it might actually be better. Young has always had a resolutely thin voice, but somehow that works here, like he's permanently teetering on the brink of orgasm/tears/fury. The track is nothing short of incredible, melding syrupy strings with the kind of electro ripples that would make Robbie Williams spoof his rudebox, not to mention just about everything else including the kitchen sink. (PS I know that's a live version above; iTunes the real thing for the full effect.)

Oh my giddy aunt - WOW :yahoo: :cheer:  Someone sees it too - I'm sure it's why KO is still selling so well - people are downloading single tracks off the album and discovering just how good our bloke is  When Will said he had some electro pop on the album I was a bit   but there was absolutely no need to worry - was there. :D

Thanks BYM&Ms

WOW! indeed...what a wonderful write up :yahoo: Always thought what a brilliant single KO would have made  Don't get the "thin voice" comment though

Thanks BYM&Ms :cheer:

Great find, BYM+M's

I've never understood critics who describe his voice as 'thin' either  Anything but, IMO.

I was a little worried too, when I first heard mention of 'electro-pop' on Keep On. I had disturbing 1980s flashbacks - eeek!! But I was blown away by the brilliance of KO (the single) on first hearing, it is just amazing! . The blogger perfectly captures its utter mind-blowingness.

It would have been perfect as an upbeat single after WAI, just to show people how diverse Will's sound can really be. :(

He made sure people heard it though peachycheeks. He sang it live quite often - especially like there on the Album Chart Show where it matters

Don't get me started on the subject missed opportunities, a 4th single would have done wonders for KO's sales [imo]... Will is one of the few artists who only release three singles.

JM had sold the same amount as Will after the promotion for his 3rd single had ended but with his 4th release the album carried on selling. KC was on similar sales after her 3rd but then she brought out a 4th and a 5th.

sorry ......see I always go off on one when this subject comes up

Thanks for that BYM+M's - love the write up and I simply adore that performance. Praying for a repeat of it sometime as my video didn't record it very well at all so waiting to catch it again on DVD if the chance comes up :)

Would have loved a 4th release from KO - it certainly had some tracks that should have been released. TAI, AIW, KO and Home spring to mind.
