Just reading the thread on Devoted and apparently Paul Flynn is the chap who did the original interview with Will for Attitude and he also writes for other publications - so this has been reproduced from his own work and not plagiarised.

Think that's why I find it hard to warm to many other artists chrysalis. They just don't measure up.

Same here. I quite like a few artists at the moment, Paolo Nutini being one of them, but I have no interest in him other than his voice. Bought his album yesterday and I think it's fantastic, but I can't tell you the first thing about him other than he's 19 and Scottish  I don't take as much interest in anyone as I do Will  Scarey huh?

It is because of his personality I think. And that we were in at the beginning of his career.

Who Am I by Will Young

This is a beautiful song and I love his voice. I did Pop Idol with Will so I've had a bit of a journey with him. When he first came in, I tbought: This guy has to win, I loved him I knew that if you heard that voice, you'd never forget it Again, it's not technically perfect but he can emote really well. He goes from strength to strength and he,s still keen to learn and improve

Lovely read & agree once you've heard that distinctive voice your well & truly smitten.

POP Idol winner Will Young has advised fans to make sure they see him in concert next month - because it will be their last chance to see him singing on stage again for some time.

Following his UK arena tour, which visits Birmingham NEC on September 16 and 25, the 27-year-old will take the lead role of Nicky Lancaster in the Noel Coward play The Vortex at Manchester's Royal Exchange Theatre.

"I felt that switching to the theatre for a time was the right thing to do," says Will who received critical acclaim for his film role in Mrs Henderson Presents.

"I'm taking a break from music for a bit. As well as doing some acting I plan to take a big six months holiday. There's not even a new single planned to coincide with the tour."

Although Will has been in the studio writing, the songs will be pitched at other performers.

"I just wanted to get back into the swing of it but I'm not planning another album until 2008. Hopefully, my break will provide me with inspiration."

Will says that working in film, theatre and music is a great way for him to become an all round entertainer.

"It all inspires creativity," he claims, "and gives me more confidence to push myself."

Will is determined that his forthcoming concert tour will be one to remember.

"It's an amazing show which is taking a lot of organising. At one point there will be 23 people on stage.

"I'm involved in all the preparations - I've just been auditioning dancers. For the past two years I've known what I wanted to do with this production. It will be very theatrical and very retro. Hopefully it will be filmed because it will look great on DVD."

He's determined, however, that the show won't over-shadow the music.

"It'll be slick and sexy but it will be about the music."

Birmingham holds a special place in Will's heart.

"I always do well in Birmingham, I've got a great fanbase in the city," he says. "I remember that last time I was in the city centre I sat in a cafe by a canal. It was fantastic."

* Will Young plays the NEC Arena on September 16 & 25. Tickets are £30, plus booking and transaction fees, from 0870 909 4133.

Oh Will, two years is too long

I am sure he will be involved in some other branch of the entertainment world. Films, a musical or something like that. Maybe The Vortex will be transferred to London!
No new music for a long while then...will miss that very much. but on the very bright side lots of other stuff ..new stuff to get our teeth into...

There's nothing in the article that Will hasn't hinted at but it's not easy seeing it in print. I for one am going to take Will's advice & savour every second of this tour.

Hopefully things will go well in the Vortex & after his holiday he will be back in more acting roles & other projects. Just keeping everything crossed that his first love for singing & performing never deserts him. :(

Well I thought we wouldn't be getting another album until 2008 anyway, so it's not much of a surprise to me, I'll probably panic more after the Vortex has finished and he's away on holiday. But I'm sure we'll still be seeing him regularly in the press and I'm sure he'll have lots of different things lined up, I'll miss him singing live though, but at least we're getting a DVD of the tour to watch. This is how I'll feel after my last date on the tour though. http://bestsmileys.com/crying/5.gif

He's always been absent minded when it comes to his road taxes, he probably pays more out in parking fines.

Will's advice for newcomers obviously taken from teh Woman interview.

British singer/actor WILL YOUNG has advised up and coming young singers to watch their money, because record companies and management firms will encourage lavish lifestyles they can't support. The MRS HENDERSON PRESENTS star, who won TV talent show POP IDOL in 2001, was urged to book high-class hotels and flash modes of transport when he first hit the big time - even though he would have to pay for the expenses himself. Young says, "No one tells these new pop star that they'll be billed for all their 'perks'. "They tried to make me move out of my London flat and live in a hotel which, I discovered, I would be paying for, and to take limos - that I would be paying for. "I did not take very well to be told what to do. I was a man. I didn't need someone telling me how to cross the road."
