Watson Phillips Norman creates first DRTV work for NCH

by Sarah Woods Brand Republic 12 Sep 2006

LONDON - Children's charity NCH is extending its fundraising efforts for thousands of vulnerable children into DRTV for the first time, with an ad created by Watson Phillips Norman.

The 90-second DRTV ad, to be shown on satellite and cable channels, tells the story of three real-life situations -- a homeless teenager, a young carer and a young schoolboy who is in care and waiting for a permanent home.

It illustrates the difference NCH makes to these young people by helping to turn their lives around for the better.

Pop star Will Young donated his song 'All Time Love' to be used in the soundtrack, while George at Asda donated 40 school uniforms for the youngsters who appeared.

Gail Cookson, client service director at Watson Phillips Norman, said: "NCH has a very compelling and emotive story to tell. TV as a medium allows us to perfectly visualise the cause."

Liz Monks, executive director of fundraising at NCH, said: "Our challenge is to reach out and take NCH to a wider audience, by extending reach we aim to boost recruitment beyond direct mail and street fundraising. This ad tells the story of just a few of the 160,000 children, young people and their families that we work with every day."

Bless him.

Thanks munchkin, lovely pics again, I'm glad it's good news and not bad on the first day of the tour and I agree with you about the media training, it must be tough for Conor having the paps in your face, Will's had five years of it and he still hates it. I hope the paps can leave them alone for a bit and it'll be nice if maybe Conor will be at some of the venues on the tour. :D
I think the picture of Will on the "Orlando" page is printed in reverse. Where's Will's mole? And I'm sure his hair is parted on the other side.

You're quite right! I thought it looked really odd, and that's why!

Their new video was not inspired by the first Pop Idol winner’s last promo. And that’s final…

Lostprophets have vehemently denied the ’A Town Called Hypocrisy’ promo was inspired by Will Young’s last music vid.

Like Young in his promo for ’Who Am I’, the Welsh rockers dress up as 1970s Blue Peter-style presenters complete with dodgy hairdos and cardigans.

However the band has told MTV.co.uk there is no link.

“Will Young did it too? Really? I don’t keep up with him to be honest. Is he still around?†said singer Ian Watkins.

Explaining the real reason for the amusing promo, guitarist Mike Lewis added, “We wanted to do something different with this song as it has a kind of new sound.

"All our videos have been very serious so we thought we'd experiment. But we did think, 'Either this is gonna be amazing or the biggest pile of sh*t we’ve ever done.’â€

But while Lewis is chuffed with the results, Watkins has his reservations.

“I’m still not sure about it,†he told us. “I think I look like a muppet.â€

Now, that’s another video in itself.

Lostprophets’ stonking new single 'A Town Called Hypocrisy' is out now.

Thanks to *Jue* on Devoted. As one of the girls on D said - it doesn't matter if it's been copied or not - Will did it first :P

I don't think it's like Will's video to be honest, I've seen it on the HITS and they wear cardigans in it and wigs but it's not a patch on Will's video, which was only taken off this week after being on there for 5 months. :cheer:
Isn't Ian Watkins the idiot who was on CD:UK on a panel with Will and Matt Goss talking about the latest singles and made some snide remark about "reality programmes"? Will didn't rise to the bait.

I thought it was the lead singer from Embrace actually Dot, either way Will can out sing the pair of them put together, then again Rock has never been about having a great voice has it? but putting down other acts has.

I didnt know he said this <_< if its the one from embrace he can barely hold a tune,I always cringe when i hear him singing live http://bestsmileys.com/hitting/7.gif

Yes, you are right. Not interested enough in either group for it to make much impact on me!

I know what you mean Dot, you've heard one of these groups, you've heard them all  but, the guy in question was actually Tim Wheeler from Ash, who've been quite successful over the years. (still not my cup of tea though ;) )

Ah, but where are they now? Not doing an almost sell-out arena tour I'll be bound!
