Know what you mean. She seems to like to spend every waking hour with him.

She certainly takes her motherly duties seriously

There is a letter from Pauline Ward in this week's Now suggesting that they go and see Will in The Vortex before passing judgement. I don't know the actual wording as I looked at it in the Co-op!

Well done Pauline!

Norton and Bruce join Sir David to 'Save Planet Earth'

By Arifa Akbar

: 09 March 2007

The BBC has revealed the full list of celebrities taking part in its forthcoming Saving Planet Earth series - including a journey to the lairs of endangered Ethiopian wolves by the comedian Graham Norton and a search for Indian tigers by the newsreader Fiona Bruce.

The nine-part series will commemorate the BBC Natural History Unit's 50th anniversary. It is being billed as a campaigning sequel to the hugely successful Planet Earth, presented by Sir David Attenborough, and will culminate in the largest-ever televised appeal on behalf of conservation charities.

The series, which starts in June with a show hosted by Sir David, will also include trips by the singer Will Young to find lowland gorillas hunted for bushmeat in Gabon, a journey by Jack Osbourne to study Namibian elephants, and Carol Thatcher's quest to see how long-line fishing endangers albatross in the Falklands. The television gardener Alan Titchmarsh will join Sir David to present the celebrities' shows.

Some of the most emotional moments of the series include footage of Norton's trip to Ethiopia, in which he spends several days camping 3,000 metres up in the Ethiopian mountains amid freezing temperatures with the BBC's wolf team, hoping to catch a glimpse of the endangered pack animals.

Another breathtaking moment captures Bruce's journey to India, where she comes within metres of a tiger. In another episode, the Radio 1 DJ Edith Bowman endures several nights under tarpaulin in the jungles of Cambodia to see how the country's crocodiles are coming under threat from the local skin trade.

Paul Appleby, the producer of Saving Planet Earth, said the locations had been selected to illustrate the achievements of global conservation groups. "We have reached a point where we need to act in support of conservation. We are in the 'sixth extinction' phase of animals on the planet, which is caused by human actions," he said.

"But instead of tracking the decline of animals, the aim of the series is to look at places where decline has bottomed out and turned around. We have selected these nine projects, which all revolve around local communities, to show how well they can work to ensure the future of endangered species. These are very emotional journeys taken by the people involved."

At the end of the series, the celebrities will join hosts Sir David and Titchmarsh for a live fundraising finale, which will follow the same format as Children in Need, to draw funds for the Saving Plant Earth Fund. The fund plans to secure enough money for several major projects working with endangered species across the world for the next two to three years.

The opening programme will also use previously unseen footage from the award-winning series Planet Earth alongside Sir David's explanation of how the destruction of crucial habitats is effecting the future of the planet's animals.

Yesterday, Sir David highlighted the need to raise conservation funds and said the project was of the utmost significance for future generations. "Some scientists suggest that up to a quarter of animal species could be extinct by 2050. But it's not too late - you can be involved in Saving Planet Earth. If you are a child, this is your future. If you're a parent, it's your legacy. The time to act is now," he added.

Other high-profile names include the actors Brian Blessed, Tom Conti and Shobna Gulati, the comedian Sean Hughes and the singer Myleene Klass, who will explore the plight of threatened wildlife across the UK in simultaneous regional programmes during the live appeal. The focus in Britain will range from the plight of basking sharks in the south-west of England to eagles in Scotland.

Thanks BYM&M's, it won't be long before the series is shown, I bet Will's is shown near the end. :D
I'll just have to make absolutely certain that I'm not away on holiday/having operations/or anything else, during the summer.
As if you would be interested  , but I'm at present in the Singapore Airlines lounge, Heathrow, waiting for my flight. Flight down from Newcastle was fine, but the walk across was horrendous!!! Hope everyone is having a great time at Manchester.

So life got vaguely back to normal this week, post jet lag and star stalking in LA. Monday I went to Brits committee meeting to discuss the post mortem on this years show. I don’t know what you think but I thought this years show was really good. The only thing it lacked was a major star like Justin or Beyonce to give the evening a real Tv high. I thought Russel Brand was great, he handled what is an extremely difficult job ie to please a live audience, a tv audience and all the artists on the show, with what seemed like extreme ease. At the meeting we discussed the fact that lots of people, inside and outside of the business, still think that the Brits is rigged by either the committee or by the majors. It makes me laugh that people still think this way even after we publish the names of all 1000 members of the Brits voting academy each year in the programme and online. That academy is made up of journalists, retailers, managers, student union social secs, Independent and Major record companies, publishers, promoters. If it was fixed I would make sure more of our acts won!! ( Just kidding….)…. Monday night I attended a fund raising evening for Nordoff Robbins Music Therapy. Pls see the link. This is a charity that our company and most of the music business support. It is an amazing organisation and I highly recommend you check them out. We drank way too much red wine but raised £70k over the evening so that at least made my hangover the following day seem worthwhile!

Tuesday after meetings in the office went to see Robert Bowden in the rehearsal room getting ready to start his album. Mike Hedges is producing and judging by the way the songs and arrangements are coming together , this should be an amazing debut album. Mike has worked with everyone from U2, Travis, , Dido, The Cure, and many many more.. as he is even older than me!... That evening a farewell dinner for The outgoing BPI chairman Peter Jamieson in covent garden .

Weds lots and lots of meetings, and once again dropped by Roberts rehersals… songs really starting to gel.. in the evening off to my 15 ( soon to be 16) year old daughters play at school, which was great fun. A late dinner and lots of late night phone calls making it another long day..

Thursday. You guessed it.. more meetings..I think that’s what I really do for a living.. professional meeting taker.. Robert rehersals again and then off to the highlight of the first six months of the year…our company pop quiz!! About 150 of us took over the local pub and had a brilliant evening. I usually get barred for cheating, so this year was determined to behave only to find the team I was on trailing last by the half way mark..how embarrassing…. Time for less chat and focussing on the job in hand for me and my team mates! With a Herculean effort we managed to pull ourselves off the bottom to finish joint 17th I think…. Mid table obscurity , just like my football team Manchester City… except the way City are going we could be going DOWN…. Eeek!..... I think for the next pop quiz we should introduce a few questions on Health and safety, our environmental policy, who is the fire marshal on the fourth floor etc etc just to even things out for everyone who is not so hot on their pop music trivia. Or maybe next time just have a general knowledge quiz including music questions… mind you, I’d probably still in the bottom half! Kyle from the View gave out the prizes and when I left around ten everyone was just getting warmed up for a big night of boozing… I am glad I made my escape…

Friday up to to have lunch with Will Young to discuss ideas for his new album and a general catch up as I have not seen him for a while. In the evening went to see the play he has been in for the last three months at the Royal exchange theatre. It’s Noel Cowards The Vortex and I really enjoyed it. One of the great things about Will is he loves to try different things all the time. I don’t know if you saw the movie he was in last year with Bob Hoskins and Judy Dench called Mrs Henderson presents, but he was really good in that too as indeed he was in tonight’s play. That’s it for another fun filled week…..
