(I have had this song in wma format for quite sometime now. It is only recently that I was able to convert it to mp3.)

 

After seeing Mrs. Henderson Presents, I fell in love with this song. Bob Hoskins, Dame Judi Dench, and Will Young were outstanding in the film but it was this song that made the movie immensely unforgettable. I looked for the soundtrack in various record stores here in Manila but there weren't any. Without any luck, I turned to the net for a possible download of the said song (meaning free!!!). This was then when I found out that the song is actually part of a Broadway Musical in the late 30's.

 

All The Things You Are is part of the musical Very Warm For May, staged at the Alvin Theatre in 1939. With music by Jerome Kern and Lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein, the musical received varying reviews. Sad to say, the musical bombed. People did not like the last minute changes in its plot. With this, the musical never again resurfaced. Forgotten, lost, unnoticed.

 

Thank God for "Mrs. Henderson Presents", the song gets breathed with new life 50 years since the last time it was heard. This time, given life with the angelic almost tragic rendition by Will Young. The song now sounds almost supposedly happy yet echoes a deep form of sadness. It's as if its a song of triumph yet not yet.

 

I am attaching the words below just so you will notice that the lyrics are as beautiful as Mr. Kern's score. Enjoy.

Thanks BYM&Ms. When I hear Will's vocals on this I get goosebumps. His voice is so crystal clear especially amazing as he had to learn a different singing technique. Amazing man. :wub:
