Joss Stone is among the acts newly announced for the South African Live Earth concert.

UB40 will also be performing at the multi-artist concert, which will take place at The Cradle of Humankind, Maropeng, just outside Johannesburg, on July 7. The line-up is completed by Angelique Kidjo, Baaba Maal, Danny K, The Parlotones, the Soweto Gospel Choir, Vushi Mahlasela and Zola.

The Live Earth concerts will begin in Sydney on July 7 before rolling out in Tokyo, Shanghai, Johannesburg, London, Hamburg, Istanbul, Rio de Janeiro and then New York.

Kevin Wall, CEO of Control Room, which will be producing the concerts globally, says, “Music is an international language that has the power to move people. Live Earth’s 24 hours of music spanning all seven continents will move people in every corner of the planet to take action against global warming.”

In addition to the musical guests, supermodel Naomi Campbell will be speaking from the stage as part of the Live Earth Johannesburg concert.

“I’m proud to be a part of Live Earth and I’m especially proud that we are joining forces here in South Africa,” she says. “Nowhere is the issue of global warming more critical than in Africa. Live Earth Johannesburg will not only unify Africans on this issue, it will connect the crisis here with the rest of the world.”
