Posted June 14, 200718 yr Should the Culture Box be targeted to a more adult rock demographic? what do you think?
June 14, 200718 yr Half of what's in here is what I'd expect to see in Indie / Alt instead of pish like MCR and The Fray. What is adult rock these days anyway? Now I'm 30 it's probably what I'm supposed to be listening to.
June 14, 200718 yr Author Half of what's in here is what I'd expect to see in Indie / Alt well dude thats because it should be indie and alternative (dont worry now the change those threads are being moved back  ) instead of pish like MCR and The Fray. What is adult rock these days anyway? actaully that should be adult contemporary/AOR rock but couldnt fit it in. Its all those Stadium Rock acts, all the dadrock acts, the singer-songwriters, the heritage acts, all the Modern Rock dudes that have become to omnipresent on Virgin, in fact perhaps most of the Virgin playlist and a date with Ken Bruce  obv not pop but to popular to go in the indie and alt section which should be more leftfield and spunky!!! obv all the pish like MCR and the Fray, oh and phish as well
June 14, 200718 yr Personally no. I do think however the flow of bands out of indie to culture box does confuse people, for example Jarvis Cocker would of though was in indie, the same with Jamie T. That not a criticism of anyone as I know there are reasons for it.
June 14, 200718 yr The Indie & Rock forum has been renamed to cater for acts that are in this forum now, I have made the neccessary changes to the forum, to include Cat Power, M.I.A. etc
June 14, 200718 yr This whole thing confuses me - who decides what sort of music is what anyway? Surely the whole thing is subjective opinion?
June 14, 200718 yr Author The Indie & Rock forum has been renamed to cater for acts that are in this forum now, I have made the neccessary changes to the forum, to include Cat Power, M.I.A. etc not indie and rock, indie and alternative!!! as if it was just rock then that would be too mainstream, and as there's only slight differences between genres. theres not much difference between some dadrock acts and the pop-soulness of sinply red in the market demographic. however good M.I.A. is out of cheesyland
June 14, 200718 yr If my suggestion is gonna cause all this manging on, i would rather you changed it back tbh.
June 14, 200718 yr Author This whole thing confuses me - who decides what sort of music is what anyway? Surely the whole thing is subjective opinion? well you gotta try and work out what the demographic being targeted is thru reading relix, mojo, uncut, q, tv hits, nme, plan b, blander etc etc etc etc. follow them as their demographics and target auds will have been surveyed over and over again to get the right mix
