Posted June 14, 200718 yr bbc say: Michael Barrymore has been arrested along with two other men over the death of Stuart Lubbock. Mr Lubbock, 31, was found by the swimming pool at the TV star's house near Harlow, Essex, in March 2001. Mr Barrymore, 55, and two men, aged 37 and 32, have been arrested on suspicion of serious sexual assault and murder. Essex Police said the 37-year-old man had been arrested in Lancashire and the 32-year-old man was taken into custody in north Staffordshire. What we've been campaigning for over the past 18 months is for somebody to be charged and brought to court Tony Bennett, lawyer Mr Lubbock had been among a number of people at a party at Mr Barrymore's home in Roydon in the hours before his body was found. Post-mortem tests showed that he died as a result of drowning. An inquest into his death recorded an open verdict after hearing he had also suffered severe internal injuries which suggested sexual assault. Alcohol, ecstasy and cocaine were found in his bloodstream. An investigation was carried out by Essex Police at the time of Mr Lubbock's death, but no-one was charged with any offence. Stuart Lubbock's body was found by the side of the swimming pool In December 2006, Essex Police began a new inquiry. The Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) also launched an investigation. Following the arrests, the IPCC said it had placed on hold its inquiry into complaints from the family arising from the original Essex Police investigation. Mr Lubbock's father, Terry, 62, of Harlow, said: "I've been in limbo for the past six years. My life has been on hold. I will never get those six years back again. Why has it taken so long? "I have had so many disappointments over the past six years. This could be another one. I am waiting for the jackpot. I am waiting with bated breath. "I am going to keep on going. I am not going to let my son down, no matter how many disappointments." He said police had given him no warning of the arrests. He said when he was told of the arrests he "did not explode with any excitement or anticipation, as I have been let down in the past". Mr Lubbock's brother, Kevin, 39, also of Harlow, added: "I am really happy this has all come to light. It's been a long time... I am a bit numb." Terry Lubbock's lawyer, Tony Bennett, said: "What we've been campaigning for over the past 18 months is for somebody to be charged and brought to court."
June 14, 200718 yr I don't think this should be in Music Culture - surely World News/Perspectives would be more suitable.
June 14, 200718 yr :cheer: *flashes back to the arguments with certain members when Barrymore was on BB :kink:*
June 14, 200718 yr Author thats what i thought.... maybe tigerdude want to control it! lol i dont know know whether youve got this mad idea in ya head and think each area is like a big contest to see whos the best (re: your comment in a past retro area discussiin when it went too modern why dont you move it here as its general and you thought it was an advert). I posted in the culture box as it is still at the moment a general music/celeb culture area and not just skeded toweards a rock/AC format. Micheal Barrymore had a #25 hit in 1995 with 'too much love for one heart' so qualifies for said random and general area. and anyway for an interlecteral kinda perspective and world news area wouldnt articles about the Gaza strip and the boycotting of Isreal's profs be better than yet more celeb news like the Paris Hilton thread.

But we do discuss the Paris Hilton jail thing in "Perspectives" Alex.... , and I would say that it's a fertile debate, despite one or two posters making facile, glib comments.... It's not necessarily the subject, but the quality of the debate.... And I would say that this falls into the whole general "law and order" debates that we have over in "Perspectives" far more easily than sticking it in "Culture Box" where you're mainly discussing music industry-related topics....
June 15, 200718 yr This was in Culture lol ??? Ridiculous, so anyone that had 1 hit and something happens to them it belongs in culture ? :o When Clint Eastwood dies does that mean tributes to him should be in culture instead of Film ? :P

June 15, 200718 yr tbh i dont really know what we can say about it, its all conjecture as we dont know the facts. and no tigerdude, theres no competition im really not that bothered! it was levity :)
June 15, 200718 yr I'd be surprised if anything else happens here. Barrymore's career is pretty much stagnant now...even an acquittal would afford him no more than a short payday with the tabloids. He''ll never get back on TV.

When the fukk are these bloody people going to stop this ridiculous vendetta and live with the fact that their son was gay, took drugs and he had a tragic accident...? Barrymore had bugger all to do with Lubbock's death, sure, he's done one or two questionable things, but this is a very far cry from saying he's a murderer... There is simply NO EVIDENCE..... Sh!t, and I dont even like the guy.....

June 16, 200718 yr Author This was in Culture lol ??? Ridiculous, so anyone that had 1 hit and something happens to them it belongs in culture ? :o But the concept behind that section was that area is a General Area for music and associated musical things if it was just for Music Business it would be called Music Business
