By no means am I a Leona fan, I can't stand her style of singing, but I wouldn't write her off just yet.

 

All she needs, all anyone needs for that matter, is that one huge single (James Blunt anyone?) and she'll be made. She seems to be working with some of the best known producers & writers in the US, there's a mountain of cash backing her, she has a shoe in to all the US tv shows, thanks to Simon Cowell, so the odds are all in her favour.

 

BTW, there's a thread on Digital Spy that says her first single will be Homeless, don't know how true this is, 'cos isn't this a track she recorded pre XFactor?

Yes we do but this hasn't anything to do with Leona but all about Cowell. He's desperate to produce an international star from X Factor Leona is merely his pawn.

 

She should be very careful though & take a long hard look of the careers of those who have swanned off abroad before fully establishing themselves over here, but like others before her I doubt she has the backbone to stand up to Cowell.

Leona is Simon's best chance of getting his first global winner. If she stayed here, used British writers & producers then there'll be less chance of selling her to the Americans.

It's like manufacturing anything else, cars, aeroplanes, whatever, if it's a joint venture, then it guarantees sales from both countries. At least, that's what simon's hoping ;)

But what does she offer America ?

 

Has she got charisma ? a dead dog has more charisma than her

 

Has she got superior talent to the likes of Mariah, Christina, Kelly ? no

 

What exactly does Leona offer America that 20 other artists are not already doing perfectly well ???

Yeah in X Factor while she was able to hold high notes and so on she just had no stage presence at all, she was just robotic on stage just like seemed dull just standing there and holding notes with her tongue flapping out whereas many of those she will be competing against in America in the market are very charismatic and have amazing stage presence, Leona just does not have that, while she is good ay churning out high notes in ballads she is a 1 trick pony with very littlle personality

This debut album won't even be a success in the UK, let alone any future albums doing well or any worldwide success. It's been ages since she won, everyone's forgotten about her, and there'll be soon be a load of other identical X Factor contestants in the charts. Considering Leona isn't that photogenic, doesn't have much of a distinctive voice and doesn't have much of an obvious personality, she won't be able to stand out from the crowd. She's over.

She is being launched as a serious world-class solo artist and so this requires.

If she's working with the "right people" that sounds like the totally wrong decision. Americans are bored with the same old c**p, and they're not going to turn to a British artist for stuff they're already getting from millions of talented Americans. It's no coincidence the only British artists that have truely broken America the last few years (James Blunt, Natasha Bedingfield, Corinne Bailey Rae, Snow Patrol, Amy Winehouse) have all been ones that created their albums without the American market in mind at all and only released them there after they hit big here... they all offered something the American market otherwise weren't hgetting. If Leona is hoping to hit the big time with some identikit R&B over there, she can forget it right now.

Well, if they're not even cashing in on the X Factor thing, she's going to fall totally flat on her face then, because like others have said, she brings nothing new to the table to set her apart from others otherwise.

I wish people would stop slating her, she hasnt even had a chance to show off her talent yet, and im sick of all this stuff about having no charisma and personality, she seems like an absolutley lovely person and i think when she sings it is full of emotions and sends chills up your spine. yea everyone is entitled to there opinion, but none of you people who dislike her are allowing people to like her in peace without being called people with no taste, when im sorry i do have taste, she has an amazing voice.

People...dont adapt to change too well be it with movies and even music. Making her be something that is risky and new would be a certain failure, People like things they are familar with.

 

How would you like to watch a movie where everything was all out of place and didnt make sense, just because it dared to be totally different??? That movie would be a flop..no doubt.

Well, excuse me if I'm wrong, but last time I checked, this wasn't a Leona fan board and people were allowed to say their opinions. I'm sure Leona's a lovely person and I know don't hate her on a personal level because I don't know her. No-one is sending her death threats or anything, people are just saying they don't think she's cut out for the music business, and past history of reality TV winners overwhelmingly suggests she won't be around for long.
