i suppose her album could get quite good sales though she will just have to settle for a lower position ;)

Precisely, in all honesty I don't see Leona going to #1 anyway unless she has something absolutely MAJOR on the cards, which I hope she has but like most music this year I fear she will disappoint. :(

Lol Kelly, I hate disagreeing with you :(

In the US, the hype around Alicia is huge beyond belief. She just scored herself rave reviews with her VMA gig and 'No-One' is heading up the charts. I can imagine she'll grab the better sales this year if they were both to release.

Mariah is in a very odd position. Her last album was incredibly big, but before that she was considered 'over'. She's at that stage now where the comeback has to be done perfectly - hot song, brilliant promo and well timed. She'd do better to leave it until December at least.

Well as you said, I obviously disagree. :P

Did you see the promotional blitz around Mimi? That was mammoth, you couldn't escape Mariah she was absolutely everywhere, live performances on every show on TV practically, adverts, billboards, 3 singles in the Top50 at the same time (2 of those occupying both the #1 and #2 slots may I add). She had the first #1 of 2006 with Don't Forget About Us, she had the biggest selling album of the year by about 400k.

I think that's why there will be so much hype around the new album, everyone knows Mimi was huge and was such a huge reversal of fortunes and put her back at the top, which is why I think everyone will be very keen to see if she can follow that up or whether she's going back on the pop scrap-heap. There's a track already decided for Mariah's lead which is being held top secret which has had rave reviews from the very few that have heard it, all of the producers said that Mimi was nothing compared to the new album which really is the return of the voice.

I agree with you though, with Mariah everything does need to be perfectly timed and she does need the right single and promotion etc. Although coming off the heels of Mimi I am very confident that this album will be pushed to the hilt in terms on promotion and I have confidence that IDJ will handle the project perfectly.

December would be okay I guess, you only need to look at Mary J. Blige's 830k's worth of first week sales to see that it's incredibly beneficial, which for the US would be great in terms of sales, but it would get completely lost in the Christmas rush over here and everywhere else I imagine, whereas if she sticks to November she can get a great chart position and have consistent sales through the festive period.

Yeah, No-One is getting great reviews but you only need to compare total sales for Alicia's first 2 albums and even the Unplugged album to see that in the long run she is no match whatsoever for Mariah, if i'm proved wrong i'll hold my hands up and admit it, but I don't think I will be. :P

As it happens, there was an article I read on a Mariah site from a tabloid saying how they would be going head-to-head and it would be the battle of the diva's, but I think the difference is that because Mariah is Mariah more often than not she can sell by the yacht-load based on her name alone, whereas I don't think it's so easy for Ms. Keys. ^_^

ooooh good good ^_^ i have a feeling her album is going to get to 6 or 11 an annoying position like that....i hope it can hold up aswell im sure it can if the song and video are amazing and lots of promo is given which im sure it will with the amount of money they are spending on her and the hype theyre giving her

But I'll bet the label take the stupid view that because of that success, they can sit back on their asses this time around and she'll sell herself. It happens all too often, though I hope not this time, because if this album is half as good as TEOM, I'll cream my pants.

If all those female artists are releasing at the same time. I'd love to see Alicia come out on top. She's definitely the most talented for me.

so who is actually releasing albums in november?

we have Mariah, Celine, Alicia, Britney and Leona so far any other big names??
