Leona Lewis Spirit (Syco)

1 October 2007

Leona Lewis Spirit (Syco) Leona Lewis is to return to the talent show that launched her career by making the first TV appearance to promote her debut album, Spirit, on the new season of X Factor.

While Syco and Sony BMG are keen to distance Lewis from the world of reality television, Syco managing director Sonny Takhar says, “We’d be mad not to. X Factor is the biggest show on TV right now – it makes total sense.”

Detailing Syco’s plan for the album, which is released on November 12, Takhar says the label will take a “less is more” approach, which will be centred on making the release into an “event”.

“The whole campaign will be about confidence,” he says. “It’s about launching the next worldwide superstar, whether it’s the first TV appearance on the new series of X Factor, the high profile photo shoot in Harper’s Bazaar or the media launch at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel.”

Lewis’s campaign will concentrate on the UK throughout November and December, with a focus on the rest of the world – in particular the US – coming in the new year. Big-name writers who appear on the album include StarGate, Dallas Austin, Steve Mac, Sam Walters and Doctor Luke. Bar one song, it is entirely new material.

To focus on the album, Lewis will not be touring “until the tail end of 2008”. “We’ve got at least five singles from this record,” says Takhar. “Every track is a potential single – we really are spoiled for choice.”

Diva pitch on ITV

The world's top female singing talent will be showcased in a spectacular ITV1 special this autumn.

Saturday Night Divas boasts a line-up of global superstars such as Celine Dion, Alicia Keys and Jennifer Lopez.

British acts Girls Aloud, Leona Lewis, Jamelia and Natasha Bedingfield will also perform, as will R&B queen Chaka Khan.

The show, to be hosted by Myleene Klass, will mark the conclusion of Breast Cancer Awareness Month and ITV music and events controller Guy Freeman said: "To get artists of this calibre from across the world on one show is a great coup."

Dion will also star in An Audience With Celine Dion on ITV1 and the channel has two other specials featuring Westlife and Kylie Minogue lined up for late autumn.

And her official site is getting a revamp soon as well. :)

To coincide with the release of her fantastic single ‘Bleeding Love’ Leona will be launching a fancy-pants brand-spanking-new official site very soon, so keep checking back for updates!

In addition, Leona’s Bebo page has got a hot new make-over for all her network to enjoy, but you’ll have to register as a friend to see it. So what are you waiting for? Join here!

woo 5 singles at least :yahoo: i know it will deserve that many ^_^ cant wait to see her on itv aswell :cheer:

thanks for the updates :D

still no update on the music video for BL though :(

I think the video may end up being promotion for the album more than the single. If it premieres this Friday or Monday, that's a week before the release so it will be virtually useless. But at least it's ready for when she goes overseas. :)

Btw, you can apply for tickets to Saturday Night Divas here:

Says it's being filmed on 28th October so it will probably air the following Saturday or something.

Any news on the video yet anyone? :o

Nope, but I personally think it will be on Monday on This Morning because she's gonna be on there. They did that with Kylie's new vid. It's far too late now to make much difference over here but at least it will be useful for her overseas promotion. :)

I don't understand why they haven't bothered with the video, I really don't. Not that it really matters though imo, it's still a near guaranteed #1. :D
Which is odd as most video-less songs make like #22  Still, go LeLe.

I just think they left it too late to be honest. She didn't film it until late and then it had to be edited and stuff. It should have been done a lot earlier.

I'm very disappointed. :( I just downloaded the album promo and 3 of the songs were so awful or bland I just had to delete them straight off! Another was just okay, but with good production at least, and the album edit of Bleeding Love isn't a patch on the single.

they are songs before the x factor and will not be on the album.

I'm still finding it incredible that people are saying this is surefire going to be #1. She's going up against Britney, McFly and Take That - all of which have huge fanbases. Yeah Bleeding Love is a good track but I have a feeling that Leona is going to have to settle for #4 at best, if not lower... She really needed the video to put her on par with the others because I honestly think she needs all the promotion she can get if she wants the single and album to be successful. Some people just seem to think of it as a foregone conclusion that she's going to have a smash hit #1, and I think those people are going to be very disappointed.

If I had my way Leona would be #1 and then the following week she would be knocked off by Britney when she is released physically, with both Take That and McFly flopping. But it isn't going to happen like that. :P I do want Leona to be #1 but I just don't think she will be. :(

If Itunes is anything to go by, Britney will not hit No1 anywhere in Europe.
