I was gonna say...

I mean the whole marketing scheme is stupid

I mean - why release an album worldwide, if you don't know how successful she'll be in the country that made her?

It is called having confidence in her.

Also, apparantly her second single aka her debut single to those outside The UK is called 'Bleeding Love'.

Even Kelly Clarkson released her album in the US first

before coming over here

and Will Young...well he's never released anything over there..

Never bite the hand that fed/feeds you.....

Yes he has Dan. He's never promoted over there but his music is being bought. This blog entry is just one example. There have been others, not many admittedly, but it shows he's being noticed: :D

I think Dan mean't that Will has never promoted or had an official release in the US munchkin, Americans can still buy UK artists music in a few limited shops or online without label back up. I think if Leona is going to be heavily backed and promoted in the US and with Cowell's and Davis's connections, she'll do pretty well I reckon if the music is up to scratch, I'm more doubtful of how she'll do over here in the UK actually though, even if her music is good it still could depend a lot on what the new series of X-Factor throws up, as winning and releasing just one single is still the only thing the GBP have to go on. How will the GBP take to her again after spending so much time in the US? we'll find out soon I suppose.

Oops  Sorry - misunderstood. I think Will is just not willing to commit himself and hand over control to bigwigs in return for global fame. He said on Lorraine Kelly's show that he hated the thought of losing control.

Depends how much you want it I suppose.

By the time it comes for 2nd album, or at this rate her first the next big thing will of come in and she will be yesterdays news

I don't think you quite understand what Leona's about, she is not a Kiddy pop singer with a mediocre voice that relies on being quirky like Lilly Allen or Kate Nash etc. These singers, as you say, soon dissapear once they go out of fashion.

Leona is a octave-pumping big voice diva, and once established, they never go away, they are always in demand because there are so few of them of any note that can deliver a big stage performance. The only reference point in the UK to Leona is Shirley Bassey and look how well she went down at Glastonbury (and she's in her sixties).

Albums are just the start of what Leona is going to be doing, she will undoubtedly be doing the Bond theme, film soundtracks, Broadway, commercials etc

Yeah, i agree

I just can't understand how some have said she as an amazing voice...its ok but nothing special in my opinion [ my hubby is less kind about her :P ] ...all my friends dont rate her.....who are all these people that think her voice is so amazing...the only place i have seen her getting any hype is from a few posters on internet forums [ plus Cowell's media wagon hype] i dont know anyone that is talking about her or who rates her...she did so well on the x factor because their was no one else really to challenge her the standard was awful last season ....if she had been on the year before she would not have stood out because there was much more talented competition and she would have been beaten by shayne.

^^ Well I bet you don't like Celine Dion either, lots of people don't.

So what? She is still the top selling female in the world.

The folks who don't like something/someone are irrelevant.

Shayne would have only of beaten her because of young girls voting for him, just look at shayne's cmeback single.. utter rubbish.

But lots do and that's why she is a top selling female.

People's likes or dislikes are not irrelevant in this case..their music buyers..which makes them very relevant in maintaining one's career as a musical artist i would of thought  ..she could be amazing to you and others but if enough people don't see that in her..it's over.

if people like her new stuff and her as a personality she will do well..if not..she wont.

only time will tell how it's going to be.

^ yeah, people shouldn't slag her off until they have heard her album tho.. how can you slag someone off before hearing their own material :P

I did not say i did not like leona i said i did not rate her voice .....and as for celine i am not a fan but i recognize she is talented...I dont have to like an artist to see that.

And surely people shouldn't be saying.

Albums are just the start of what Leona is going to be doing, she will undoubtedly be doing the Bond theme, film soundtracks, Broadway, commercials etc

until her own music has been released and we can see what she's about?

What I mean is, If a million people like a singer and 2 million dislike them, it means they have a million fans, the 2 million are irrelevant.

and some more news,

The album has arrived at SONY/BMG and they have been listening to it. This is an email from Ged, the SONY chief executive to a contact,

"Hey ****, the Leona album is sounding AMAZING !!!... WE are in the process of confirming the date at the moment. I will keep you posted "
