June 16, 200718 yr Author im highlighting the way in which definitions have changed... pop, r & b, indie, garage..... none really bare much resemblance to their original label. the rolling stones, yardbirds, animals, manfred mann, were all regarded as 'r&b' . which was a branch of 'pop'. they were pop groups playing r&b. trex, sweet, slade were glamrock stars playing pop, they were pop groups. i dont think any of those tracks are pop :P you know the comments about the overlap between rock and pop genre defs a) even tho these records are not of the manufactured popular boyband type thing they are v popular tracks. b.) there is no mainstream rock, adult contemporary, MOR AC AOR and dadrock forum area c) bon jovi and garbage have been found in the pop section where one was heavy metal and one was alternative. d) still no stadium rock area either e) just go thru the list and say whether ech track is a crash or a smash
June 16, 200718 yr Sad to say I'm probably one of the few people here old enough to know most of these. I've only commented on those I've heard enough times to worth commenting on. 1.1. Don't Stop Me Now-Queen - brilliant (I detest most Queen stuff but I love this one song) 1.2. Bat Out Of Hell-Meat Loaf - brilliant 1.3. Born To Be Wild-Steppenwolf - extra brilliant 1.4. Radar Love-Golden Earring - good 1.5. Sweet Home Alabama-Lynyrd Skynyrd - very good 1.6. More Than A Feeling-Boston - not bad 1.7. Jessica-The Allman Brothers - brilliant 1.8. Turn It On Again-Genesis - I hate Genesis so I suppose it's unfair to comment (but its c**p) 1.10. (Don't Fear) The Reaper-Blue Oyster Cult - extra brilliant 1.11. Black Betty-Ram Jam - pretty good song - one-hit wonder mind 1.12. All Right Now-Free - very good (I would have said brilliant - but that term is reserved for My Brother Jake and Wishing Well) 1.14. Paranoid-Black Sabbath 1.15. Silver Machine-Hawkwind - good 1.17. Gimme All Your Lovin'-ZZ Top - good 1.18. Ace Of Spades-Motorhead - extra, extra brilliant - I love driving fast to this song 2.1. Song 2-Blur - very good 2.3. I Like The Way-Bodyrockers - brilliant - went really well with that tv series Drop Dead Gorgeous 2.12. America-Razorlight - I just plain like this one 2.16. Mr Blue Sky-Electric Light Orchestra - one of the best top ten songs ever 2.18. The Race-Yello - good 2.20. Champagne Supernova-Oasis - very good Couldn't simply say crash or smash sorry - there are levels of goodness and crapness. On the whole - I'd say that was a pretty good compilation album. Shame about Genesis being on it mind. Kath Edited June 16, 200718 yr by kathyp

June 16, 200718 yr The Cardigans - My Favourite Game is one of my all-time favourites. Also nice to see Placebo on there, shame the particular song isn't a favourite of mine.
