March 24, 200817 yr I think this will be quite big now, might get close to top 20. Im surprised because its quite generic, and thats why ive gone off it recently
March 24, 200817 yr I'm hoping this years Robyn, I want it to be #1 not #2 :P Not a chance. Robyn is wicked... this is pure toilet. I know there is far worse out there, but this is terribly dated and I'm surprised Radio 1 have playlisted it to be honest. But, what do I know about the charts these days eh? I'm well out of touch these days...
March 24, 200817 yr Wow. This is LOVE! I'd say its the country that makes the best pop music in the world. I'd say Australia gives it a bloody good run for it's money. Edited March 24, 200817 yr by Jark
March 25, 200817 yr Wow. This is LOVE! I'd say Australia gives it a bloody good run for it's money. Besides Kylie, who else? Oh, and on the topic of swedish music, there's also The Knife, Lykke Li, Shout Out Louds, etc. <33 So much good music.
March 25, 200817 yr Dannii, The Veronicas, Vanessa Amorosi, Bardot, Delta Goodrem, etc... But its not a patch on Sweden imo
March 25, 200817 yr Sweden make amazing pop. :w00t: Look at their recent Melodifestivalens for evidence. :D
March 25, 200817 yr Dannii, The Veronicas, Vanessa Amorosi, Bardot, Delta Goodrem, etc... But its not a patch on Sweden imo You took the words out of my mouth. ^_^ And now Gabriella Cilmi too; she's promising. It's a very different pop too Sweden though; more serious, less bubblegum. :P
March 25, 200817 yr You took the words out of my mouth. ^_^ And now Gabriella Cilmi too; she's promising. It's a very different pop too Sweden though; more serious, less bubblegum. :P Well there's serious pop in sweden too, just don't hear much. The likes of Andreas Johnson who did the pop-rock thing quite well. I just prefer stuff from Emilia, Jessica Folker and Robyn.
March 25, 200817 yr I wouldn't really call Kylie or Dannii 'serious', hahaha. Plus there's The Knife, I wouldn't call that 'bubblegum.' Oooh I do love the Veronicas though.
March 25, 200817 yr I just prefer stuff from Jessica Folker Zomg remember our lengthy topic discussing her album and the Snowflakes single? Is she doing anything at the mo? Hot Night totally deserved a video and full release, and Snowflakes could've been huge here. :(
March 25, 200817 yr Of course I remember :) Dunno what she's doing, since Snowflakes flopped I don't think she bothered with anything else :( I agree, Snowflakes is very much the kind of dance-pop that the UK is embracing atm. Shame it won't see the light of day anywhere :(
March 25, 200817 yr I think Sweden are doing the whole 'pop is really cool' thing. Some of it is great (Robyn, The Knife) some of it is bollocks (Alphabeat and of course, Ace of Bace!).
March 26, 200817 yr Alphabeat are Danish, and pretty good imo ;) Alphabeat are officially my fave act of this year so far!  ^_^ And the Emilia youre talking about is the 'Big Big World' one isnt it?? (Thats the only one i know but  lol)
March 26, 200817 yr Sweden make amazing pop. :w00t: Look at their recent Melodifestivalens for evidence. :D The Melodifestivalen compilation is my favourite album at the moment, so much great pop on there
March 26, 200817 yr On the whole Sweden are more consistent than Australia in terms of quality pop and in general have better songwriters (Max Martin, Dr Luke etc...) but then again Delta, Kylie, Dannii, Natalie Imbruglia, Bardot, Rogue Traders, Madison Avenue, Gina G, The Veronicas, Ricki Lee and Missy Higgins amongst others persuade me to think differently...
March 27, 200817 yr Sweden have half as many people, so in a way they only need half as many big names to prove themselves
