June 28, 200718 yr I forgot. It did say signing and performance on the notice I saw at the front door today. I watched the youtube Lost in You (?) which someone posted in another bj forum. I liked the sound of it but I could only clearly make out those words and a couple of others. Presumably that was just someone's phone and the album version is much clearer. I think it was taken by a mobile which never has the sound quality, on the cd its amazing IMO, loving all the tracks with the upbeat ones especially. Baytree if you can make Asda on Sat that would be good. Gareth is singing 3 songs acousticly. And you could meet him too (take it you have not so far?). Val dont forget the Whiskey in the hot water and honey, lol all good for bad throat. :teresa: Edited June 28, 200718 yr by hasso
June 28, 200718 yr I thought it was Friday. If it's Saturday, I can't make it. I'll nip along today and check the poster and if it's Saturday, I'll just buy my album there.

June 28, 200718 yr I am pretty sure its Sat Baytree, I am sorry if you cant make it. Let me know what you think of the album please. :D

Its definitely Friday for Glasgow Baytree. The Saturday is Bristol which is where I'm going. Look forward to hearing what you think of Pictures and Can't Believe Its Over, if you do go. That's all providing he sings the same songs of course and that his voice holds up. it was worse this morning when he was speaking on Radio Leeds. Didn't seem to affect his singing voice too much though
June 29, 200718 yr I'm just back in. It was a beautiful day here so my friend and I took a run up to Fort William and on to Mallaig. I bought the album in HMV on the way back. I haven't played it through yet because I've been catching up on the news about the bombs in London.
June 30, 200718 yr Glad you had a nice day Baytree. I be interested to know your verdict about the album, even though I think its brilliant, I am just a little bit biased, lol :D
June 30, 200718 yr Help! I've been trying to get it to play on my pc. All I get is the single videos and the gallery. I've clicked all over but that's all I get. AOMS single played halfway on my pc before giving up, but Pictures doesn't seem to want to co-operate at all. Usually I put a CD in and get a choice of which media player to use. My stereo isn't working - it's stuck on the really annoying default game because I'd unplugged the thing during the thunderstorm and I can't find its manual.
June 30, 200718 yr After 3 playings, favourite songs, in order of track nos Most favourite overall : Lost In You New Kid In Town - reminds me of 50s/60s sound Electric - Really like it but would have preferred a bit more punch in the chorus, stronger backing maybe. Talking Minds - Lovely. I'd happily keep it on repeat.
June 30, 200718 yr Thanks Baytree for your verdict, I agree with it apart from Talking minds, I am slowly warming to it, but it was not one I instandly took too, even though its the track Gareth written all by himself, lol I am glad you like listening to the album.
July 2, 200718 yr After 3 playings, favourite songs, in order of track nos Most favourite overall : Lost In You New Kid In Town - reminds me of 50s/60s sound Electric - Really like it but would have preferred a bit more punch in the chorus, stronger backing maybe. Talking Minds - Lovely. I'd happily keep it on repeat. Even though I'm having difficulty picking favourites, I think I may slightly agree with you Baytree, except I'd possibly put New Kid below the other two you've named. Mind I also love 19 Minutes and Pictures as well. And Can't Believe Its Over is so different. Its no good I just can't choose :yahoo:
July 3, 200718 yr The last 3 aren't in order. They're just songs that I remembered liking after 3 plays of the album and which I still like aftermany more plays. Lost In You is still by far my favourite on the album. I'll listen again solely to the ones you prefer but I'm not sure I'll change my mind.
July 3, 200718 yr Pictures - still not keen, although the chorus has now stuck a bit. 19 Minutes - it's like how I feel about Darius's Freefall....... I'm loving the verses but for me, the chorus is slightly mismatched, slightly too upbeat. I love both parts, just not together in one song. In 19 minutes I love the emotion of the verses and in Freefall I love the way Darius makes them sound almost folky/country. In both cases I personally find the chorus too 'pop'. That said, it's never stopped me playing Freefall so I'd probably never skip 19 minutes when playing this album. Can't Believe It's Over - I like it very much apart from the "Look up to the stars" section. If I could just erase that, the song would join my favourites.
July 5, 200718 yr Thanks Baytree for saying what you like about this album, and what you are not too keen on, I did not take to Afterglow and Talking minds at first, but having the album on repeat (lol) I love them too now. I actually love the upbeat stuff and I love the instrumentation in this album a lot.
July 6, 200718 yr Is it true that Pictures Of The Other Side is not a Gareth co-write but actually his re-working of a previous song which was released or due for release in 2003? Has anyone heard this supposed original by Mankato? If so, where are the differences - in the lyrics, the top melody, the production or a combination of those and how great are they? If it is the same song, it seems daft to make it the title track of Gareth's mainly self written album. I'd have been really miffed if the title track of either of D's album wasn't one of his.
July 6, 200718 yr I may get the album in a couple of weeks - I'm trying very hard to be good and put back some of the money I spent over the last few months.
