The Soccer Aid match is at Wembley on Sunday, Sept. 7th, Baytree, and will be on television. Robbie Williams has

withdrawn due to an injured knee, so the captaincy will be passed to someone else.

Soccer Aid was instigated by Robbie Williams and Jonathon Wilkes. Gareth will be playing, together with other celebs,

but no mention of D. But then his preferred game is rugby.

Thank you, Bramley. Just so long as the match isn't exclusive to Sky Sports, I should be able to catch it. I don't have the Sports package or the children's or lifestyle ones.

Rugby is his game but I remember that Darius did turn out for some charity football thing when he was still sporting the goatee. There's a picture of him somewhere in his strip.

I wouldn't expect Darius to leave what he's doing in the States to fly over here for just one day unless he had some other reason to be in the UK. There are plenty of UK based celebs who can make up a few teams.

If the Vision Aid story is true, I think the parts of India Gareth would see as their representative would be quite an eyeopener for him. I think he's a lovely warm and compassionate guy and he'd do the charity proud.

Darius seemed to be very moved by the contrasts he encountered when he was in Mumbai to headline the Music Awards there. I must dig out my DVD again.

I don't know if any of you remember that Stiles & Drewe concert that Gareth appeared in back in June, but someone has put a very good recording of one of the songs he sang on YouTube. I don't know how long it will stay there, as the last one was taken down almost immediately. Anyone this is the video. I'd love to know what you all think of Gareth's performance

Thank you. Gareth's voice sounds great and the audience clearly loves it/him.

I'm sure his fans who were there will very much appreciate that video, although they probably have a clear one still playing in their heads - I know I do of many of Darius's scenes in all 3 musicals I've seen him in.

Still it would have been nice if someone had managed to grab some video of Darius's actual performances in GWTW. The rehearsal ones from TCM were light years away from the shows I saw. The front of house staff at the New London couldn't have been nicer or more efficient but that meant they were very vigilant too.

Thanks for your opinion Baytree.

I'm surprised anyone got this recording actually. Cameras and phones were totally banned and there were people watching out for them.

Thanks for the you-tube video.

Shame it was taken so far away, I'd have loved to have seen his facial expressions.

He certainly gave it lots of emotion.

I've always liked Gareth.

Great memory for his fans.

Gareth got the part of Prince Charming in Cinderella at the Wimbledon theatre, 75 performances from 5 Dec until 10 Jan. :cheer:

That will be great experience for him, and he will love it. He loves working with other people. It was great for him being on Dancing on Ice, he said the camaraderie was brilliant.

Oh that's fantastic, hasso. I'm so pleased for Gareth and all his fans. Do you know who else is in the cast yet?

I was a tiny bit shocked at this when I first heard, but on reflection I think this will be excellent preparation for Gareth for his future. He needs to be involved in speaking parts to boost his confidence with his speech. And like Hasso says he loved the involvment with lots of other people in DOI and Soccer Aid. I think this is all part of a carefully prepared plan for Gareth, until he can move forward with his music which he is adamant is his first love and always will be. He just needs to grow in other ways first.

To answer your question Baytree. Joanna Page (BAFTA award winning `Gavin & Stacey') has the part of Cinderella and the Actor/Comedian Alistair McGowen plays Baron Hardup. Ronn Lucas (American comedian) and James Thornton (Holby Blue/Dalziel & Pascoe), are also part of the cast.

Gareth has been telling us how funny he is, so this will be his chance to put that into practice.

How many tickets? Let me see. I actually haven't booked any yet, but I will be over the weekend

I think its brilliant for Gareth, lots must have auditioned for this part. And for the company to give it to him, they must have confidence that he can do the acting and speaking (singing is of course no problem for him).

I actually have not booked either yet, but having seen that there is parking right near for only £2, I will book over the weekend too. :yahoo:

Booked my tickets for two performances in January (same day as its so far for me to travel). I'm mad

I think for the company to take the risk with Gareth knowing the problems he has with his speech (which just a few weeks ago was quite bad again) shows how much they value his presence in this production. If he can come up trumps with this, who knows where it may lead in the future. Hopefully the part in Soho Cinders for a start.

I'm sure Gareth will work really hard to get things back under control, so that he puts on a great performance. Think we can excuse him lapsing just a little when he was on his honeymoon

I got my tickets now too, booked for the first performance, 5 Dec. Really cant imagen at all how it will be, never been to a panto in my life, lol :D

Well speech exercises aren't the first things which come to mind on a honeymoon.

You're not mad, val4jadan. It's an expensive business travelling to London so I do that a lot - go to the matinee and the evening show.

It means I can usually see Darius briefly between the shows and also meet up with two different groups of fans. It's a win/win.

Sometimes something different/funny will happen in one of the performances like the time Darius was singing "Reached for the Gun" in Chicago and as Billy, he's answering the press's questions in a falsetto ventriloquist voice supposed to be Roxie, whom he's manipulating like a puppet. One of the ensemble forgot to ask him one of the questions so he couldn't sing that answer and just blah, blahed to the music until the next one. I don't suppose the people unfamiliar with the lyrics would have noticed.

I think that this will be so good for Gareth as he'll be able to prove he can manage a musical. It could open all kinds of doors for him. I haven't booked yet as i can't tie down the kids to a date.

Todays sunday mirror says that Gareths wife is expecting a baby.

Good for them! They've been together for a few years to enjoy a couple's lifestyle. Now they will become

a family. Hope all goes well for them.
