February 4, 200916 yr Caught a lovely interview with Gareth yesterday, on This Morning. They were discussing his new role as Joseph. Sue It was a lovely interview wasn't it. Gareth is so at home with Phil and Fern and they seem to love him too. We've been spoiled this last week. He was on the BBC Breakfast show last week and there's a fantastic interview with him in this weeks New Mag :cheer: One week today until I go to see the show. Hope the weather clears up a bit before then.
February 11, 200916 yr What a great time for all of Gareth's fans and for him personally, especially with the imminent arrival of his first child. If I get to London this year I'll maybe try to catch a matinee, just to support Gareth. I've seen Joseph so many times I wouldn't go for any other reason. I'd try to get tickets for a matinee because the show's bound to be popular and the Adelphi is not that comfortable a theatre. I'd want to be in the stalls. No doubt Gareth's fans will grit their teeth and put up with grotty seats upstairs just like I did to see Darius in Chicago some nights. Once he sets one foot on the stage, surroundings just don't matter.
February 11, 200916 yr The Mail did an interview last week. The core interview was Ok but the headlines and odd bits gave a really negative feeling. Much the same as they did with Darius for GWTW
February 11, 200916 yr I hate to see them do that. It's totally undeserved. Was that the one where they were apparently sniffy about Gareth expressing his love for his family and in particular, his mum? I don't understand this mentality where being thoughtful, compassionate and well mannered is seemingly a cardinal sin and people with those virtues are to be laughed at. The Mail magazine did a right hatchet job on Darius just before GWTW's opening night - the photoshoot was great though. Gareth and Darius are right to hang on to their own values. I admire them all the more for their strength of character.
February 12, 200916 yr I'm ignoring the DM interview. Didn't expect anything better from them if I'm honest. They hatchet together things that have been said over the years and put them all together as being said now. Sad excuse for reporting. On to something much more interesting, I went to see Joseph yesterday. What a fantastic experience. Of all the times I've been to see Gareth, this was my favourite of all of them. His voice was out of this world on Close Every Door and Any Dream Will Do, so clear and pitch perfect and so emotional, you could have heard a pin drop in the theatre. I was mesmerized by him. The whole show was very good and the cast seemed to enjoy working with Gareth. Loved Jenna the narrator, thought she was fantastic. Gareth has had very little rehearsal so far, but he got a very good reception from the audience. After another month I think he will be even better. Already booked to go again
February 12, 200916 yr That first night watching your favourite singer in a new role is heart stopping but oh so wonderful when he comes out there and surpassess everything you've dreamed of. A fortnight's rehearsal is about norm for a takeover role. That's all Darius had for Chicago. I couldn't wait to go back either.
February 12, 200916 yr So glad you enjoyed the first night. Gareth sounds to be doing a fantastic job, and I'm sure he'll go from strength to strength. Sue
February 12, 200916 yr I'm sure a lot of people will get the chance to hear just how good his voice is.
March 5, 200916 yr 'Joseph' is allegedly closing and extensive building work is already taking place at the Adelphi Theatre for 'Phantim 2' in October. Gareth is scheduled to appear on the Paul O'Grady show on Thursday,March 12th, 5.05-6.00pm, on Channel 4.
March 5, 200916 yr It's still booking until July at the moment. No Megham, I don't think it is. The show will end on 30th May at the moment, but could be changed. Its been confirmed on Gareth's site. So pleased I managed to go last month and have booked two more trips at the end of March. If there is any justice after Gareth's performances so far he will go on to bag other roles. Musical theatre seems to suit him down to the ground. Edited March 5, 200916 yr by val4jadan
March 5, 200916 yr I was just going by a recent email from whats on stage advertising the prices until July. It's a shame it's closing early. Still, Gareth has proved he can do it and it's another success to add to his cv.
March 6, 200916 yr I'm amazed that Joseph is closing! I thought that show would have definately been safe. Just goes to show how bad things really are. :( Sue
March 6, 200916 yr I wasn't keen on the show at all. If Gareth had been doing almost anything else, I'd have gone. It would be hard to watch with D in it ev en.
March 7, 200916 yr I caught the tail end of Paul O'Grady's show yesterday and Gareth will be on some time this week. I'm sorry it didn't say which night.
March 7, 200916 yr I caught the tail end of Paul O'Grady's show yesterday and Gareth will be on some time this week. I'm sorry it didn't say which night. Its Thursday Megham. Looking forward to that. He and Paul have a really good raport between them. But then Paul has with everyone he has on his show  Hoping to get a song from the show with a bit of luck
March 12, 200916 yr I can't wait to see him on POG. Hoping for a song, but not holding my breath. There's a fab interview with Gareth in the London Theatre Guide if anyone would like to have a read. Sorry if no one wants does  http://www.officiallondontheatre.co.uk/new...7/Gareth-Gates/
