New date announced. Its now going to The Lowry in Salford and there are strong rumours that it will end its UK stage at The Barbican in London on the actual 25th Anniversary of Les Mis. Already got tickets for the Lowry but am keepng my fingers crossed that if it does end up at The Barbican it wll be for more than just a short run.

They moved on to Manchester last night and there has already been a good response.

Brilliant. When is the actual 25th, val4jadan? It would be great if there were more shows.

I just didn't move fast enough when the tickets for the tour were released. London I can usually do OK. It's a lot easier to get to than most of the other large English cities.

Now, if they do a matinee at The Barbican and I can get a ticket, I could go and see it.

The actual anniversary is the 8th October I think and the run at the Lowry ends on the 21st August, so I'm kinda hoping it will go on straight fro there until the final night on the 8th. Its only guesswork and wishful thinking at the moment though. They have said there will be another announcement soon. I'll let you know when I hear.

Thanks, val4jadan. Atm, that sort of time of year would suit me very well. My sister's birthday is in September. I bet she'd love to go.
Went to see Les Mis last night and it was exceptional! Show was brilliant , fantastic production, and Gareth was made for the part. Can't praise it enough. It was press night, which I hadn't realised when I booked and it was a complete sell out. There was a standing ovation, which seemed to go on for ever and was so well derserved. If you can get to see it BT and Meg do so, I'm sure you won't be disappointed.(Even husband was impressed!!) Have already booked to go and see it again when it comes to the Lowry in August. Sue
I have no idea what'll be happening in October. If things are OK, I'd love to book to see it in London.

So pleased you enjoyed the show. When you say `even husband was impressed', could I ask what his opinion was of Gareth's performance. Only there have been several men have commented that they were really surprised at how good he was.

My husband doesn't like musicals and only recognises Darius because he has been dragged along to see him perform so many times! He had no preconceptions about Gareth's performance, but having said that, he did enjoy the show, which for him is very good. I on the other hand thought Gareth was excellent and perfect for the part! Sue

Sounds just like a man Sue. Glad he enjoyed the show anyway  :)

Any news on the CD, val4jadan?

Yes :cheer: .

Cameron Mackintosh did an interview for BBC which you can listen to on the iPlayer if you're quick. Its 2hr 4 mins into the program. He said the live recording will be made during the next three weeks in Manchester and will be available by Easter. He was so full of praise for Gareth and referred to him as `a gift to Musical Theatre' said he lights up the stage and several other lovely things about him, before he even went on to mention the voice   . Also emphasized that he wasn't chosen to put bums on seats as the tickets were almost sold out before he was announced, but because he was perfect for the part.

I got a sneaky feeling Cameron had been waiting 8 years for Gareth to get over his flirtation with pop music so he could get hold of him.

Here's the link to the interview if anyone wants to have a lisen

That is lovely. I bet Gareth felt chuffed. It sounds wrong but I knew he'd be brilliant in musical theatre when I heard him singing in 'Cinderella'

Fabulous, just fabulous. You can shake the bottle but cream always rises to the top.

I think we all knew the guys from Pop Idol had far more to give than pop and that's why we stuck with them and were so very passionate, fighting their corner each time one was on the down run of the roller coaster.

Totally agree with you Baytree.

Well from what I saw he so deserves those comments, and like I've said previously,he's perfect for the part. Glad Cameron agrees with me! Really looking forward to the CD. Sue

Totally agree with you Baytree. Nothing in my opinion will ever equal the talent from PI1, with the possible exception of Leona and time will tell if she can diverse from Pop music or not.

Having all 3 of the PI guys around at the same time seems to be confusing for some people.
