John Kurlander, second engineer for this session, disobeying Paul, conserved the tape, appending it to the end of the complete tape, but clearly apart from the rest, 15 seconds after `The End'. 1978 George's 'Faster' / 'Your Love Is Forever' single is released in the UK. The single is released to raise money for the Gunnar Nilsson (a Swedish Grand Prix driver who had died of the disease) cancer fund. It fails to reach the UK Top 75. 1998 It's revealed that Paul had secretly paid Lily Evans the widow of Beatles' roadie Mal, £100,000 for the handwritten lyrics of 'With A Little Help From My Friends'.

Recording: `Hey Jude' [re-make] (takes 1-4, overdub onto take 1). Producer: George Martin; Engineer: Barry Sheffield; 2nd Engineer: unknown. Recording of rythm track for `Hey Jude'. First 8-track Beatles recording. 1969 Mal Evans takes the tape containing the `Abbey Road' medley compiled on 30 July to Apple for acetate cutting purposes. He returns the tape this same day to EMI. Malcom Davies, at Apple, cuts a lacquer of the complete medley sequence. On his own he decides to include the `Her Majesty' piece, although it had been placed detached from the main sequence to make it clear it was not intended to be part of the medley. 1971 John tells the NME "The thing with Paul is he wants all the action. He Wants it all. Not just the money; it's the principle. I think for instance, that Paul's cost us probably over a million since he started this thing.... it's like Monopoly, only with real money.... and costing us a fortune." 1980 Yoko phones record producer Jack Douglas and says: "John's coming back. He wants to talk to you about making this record". Later Yoko hands Jack an envelope containing a tape of the demos and a handwritten note by John: "I think I want to go back in the studio. Would you be interested in producing my album? Here's a bunch of songs. I think they're the same old $h!t! Tell me what you think. John"
