Maybe it's the one that's getting most requests/airplay? Apparently it has been number one too.
April 25, 200619 yr wonderful, I saw another Indian chart as well yesterday, Darius seems tt be on more than one compilation album just now, and well up in a couple of Indian charts with CB.
April 25, 200619 yr Author That makes it even more unusual that CB should suddenly appear on different compilations and charts several years after release. Does anyone know if these are the single versions of CB or re-mixes? Edited April 25, 200619 yr by Baytree

Does anyone know if these are the single versions of CB or re-mixes? Not really, but I would assume the single - because it was that that went to #1 there I think - it/he was very popular in India at the time, so happen they like that one the best of the included tracks still :D
April 26, 200619 yr Author .................and makes it all the more galling that for the 2nd time, success in another region was totally ignored by 19 and Mercury.
April 26, 200619 yr .................and makes it all the more galling that for the 2nd time, success in another region was totally ignored by 19 and Mercury. I'm not sure what you mean exactly Baytree - 2nd time? and ignored in what way?
April 26, 200619 yr He did exceptionally well in Singapore .... but nothing was ever done about it He never went there How much longer can 19 carry on doing him down before something happens?
April 26, 200619 yr Author When Colourblind made an impact it was ignored then Incredible kept Justin Timberlake and then Jon Bon Jovi from the top spot - still nothing. GITM wasn't released but still charted on airplay and imports. Darius had just finished his tour here and hadn't started on his second album. The time was right and there were still some really good tracks on Dive In that would have made great singles. Coincidentally, over the same period 19 were pulling out all the stops for another of their artists to ensure that he profited from initial interest and was able to do a blitz on the whole region's media. That sort of promotion takes a lot of time, commitment and money. Edited April 26, 200619 yr by Baytree

Coincidentally, over the same period 19 were pulling out all the stops for another of their artists to ensure that he profited from initial interest and was able to do a blitz on the whole region's media. That sort of promotion takes a lot of time, commitment and money. Ignored by who and in what way though? Darius picked up a gold disc in India for Dive In didn't he? - So, I know he did well there, not sure how well he did in Singapore though - can't remember - refresh my memory someone? ... when you say "nothing" Baytree - what is it you think should have been done that wasn't? Do you think that 19 have anything to do with what Brilliant 19 do or don't do, regarding Darius's career then? I agree about promotion taking time, commitment and money - but I can't see how Darius could have fitted in more than he did during the Dive In era myself though? I remember people were complaining that he was being worked too hard at the time. Also, I believe music is very cheap to buy in India, there's very little profit margin from what I've been told, so I'd guess whatever was done, was as always, done or not done with one eye on balancing the books - ultimately whatever is shelled out for promotion, comes out of Darius's pocket anyway doesn't it? I do feel that to an extent interest in Darius/his music seemed not to be capitalised upon and maintained at some points, but I don't think Darius could have done more during the Dive In era ... maybe that era should have been stretched out longer and even more time spent overseas - but Darius really did seem to need a break himself at the time though - so I don't know if more could have been done really?
May 3, 200619 yr we didnt really get to know a lot about Darius' releases around the world, there were other places that he did quite well in too. does make you wonder what goes on behind the scenes, I recall Darius saying there was a lot more to it than we saw, and a lot of politics
May 3, 200619 yr Darius picked up a gold disc in India for Dive In didn't he? Sorry, slightly off topic, I know, but didn't 'Dive In' eventually go Platinum in India. I remember Fern talking to D about it on 'This Morning' Julie
May 21, 200619 yr we didnt really get to know a lot about Darius' releases around the world, there were other places that he did quite well in too. does make you wonder what goes on behind the scenes, I recall Darius saying there was a lot more to it than we saw, and a lot of politics I'm sure there is - I can't say I'm very fond of the Music Industry from the bits that I've learnt - so I might be glad I don't know the half of it  :P I just feel confused sometimes when people start talking as though they expect 19 to be doing things for Darius in the same way as they do for their other artists, as it was my understanding that he was released from his PopIdol contract with them by Simon Fuller and instead signed a different type of contract with Brilliant 19 - I'm not sure whether the twain meets in anyway, but if it was the same thing, then there would have been no point in releasing Darius from the original contract surely?
May 21, 200619 yr I think we expect brilliant 19 to be more on the ball, being a subsidiary company of 19 management, wouldnt they be answerable to them. Now that D is in the states more often wonder if he is still with brilliant 19.
May 21, 200619 yr He's still on their web site. It's not been updated for a year though. They only have 3 artists now.
May 21, 200619 yr Author I wonder if the others are also joint managed by Nick Godwin. Is Tyler James still with them. He was expected to do really well but I hardly noticed his releases. Do Brilliant 19 manage Amy Winehouse or am I mixing her up with someone else?
May 21, 200619 yr Yes, those are the other two. Amy is supposed to be writing her next album, Tyler's were a disastor when they were released, so I don't know what he's doing. There was gossip that Amy and Tyler were together.
May 22, 200619 yr being a subsidiary company of 19 management, wouldnt they be answerable to them. Well on 19's website - Brilliant 19 is linked as one of their "associated" companies, they are clearly linked, but I don't know whether that makes them 'answerable'? specifically in terms of artist management? - I think that's the point, or question I was asking really - do we/does any of us, really know what any of it really means as far as Darius is concerned? - It's confusing enough as it is to me, without inter-changing the names 19 and Brilliant 19 or simply referring to the two differently named companies as 'them' :D I don't think management-wise, Darius is a 19 artist though - otherwise surely he would have a profile on their section of the website and he doesn't, he appears only in the Brilliant 19 section + as I said, there wouldn't have been the mention of Simon Fuller releasing him from his management contract with 19. Whatever difference that makes, I don't know - but there must be a difference though surely? Recording Contract-wise, it might be a different thing though? because although Darius's CDs cite Brilliant 19 for copyright - Darius has said that his recording contract is with 19 Recordings - so does that mean his management and recording contracts are actually two different/separate things? or does it mean that Darius uses the terms 'Brilliant 19' and '19' interchangeably too? - again, I don't know  :D He's still on their web site. It's not been updated for a year though. They only have 3 artists now. I don't think Brilliant 19 have ever had a large roster of artists have they? I wondered if that had anything to do with why Darius signed with them? i.e. so he would have a more hands-on manager and not be just another horse in a large stable?
May 22, 200619 yr Author I may get drummed out for this but sometimes I wonder if Darius has made up his mind what port he's sailing for now. His management works for him and they need his input. What is there to drive him now? His ambition was to write and record his own music and he's achieved that. How much of a pull for him is the performing side? What worries me is he's got commitments in the States now. Perhaps the lifestyle that suits that better is the songwriter's. He'd get royalties for any song that's recorded and given airplay or sung anywhere, anytime. It must be tempting to let someone else do all the mad promotional stuff and still pick up a cheque. He'll have had a taste of that with The Way I Do. Living so close to it, can he resist the pull of Hollywood and what about the theatre, did it get into his blood in the West End? Is he sitting back and waiting for fate to point the way or is he still proactively chasing one dream like before, but one he's keeping close to his chest? What is he up to in New York? Does it mean that he's seeking a different kind of production, a different sound for his 3rd album? Edited May 22, 200619 yr by Baytree
May 22, 200619 yr Author Agent for what? Nick Godwyn/Simon Fuller for his music, PAs and presumably Chicago too? Premier Modelling Management also seem to arrange some PAs and photo shoots. There were rumours he had an agent in LA but no-one seems to have any details of that even what kind of agent.
