If one of your favourite artists makes a bad record, do they ever recover or are they on a downward spiral from then on?

well, after the disastrous Red Shoes and a 13 year gap, Kate Bush delivered a masterpiece in Aerial.

After Bjork's frankly awful Vespertine, Dancer In The Dark soundtrack and Medulla we got the rather great Volta.

Morrissey released the seriously substandard Southpaw Grammar and Maladjusted, then stormed back with the almighty You Are The Quarry.

Well..I think one example is Tori Amos with her album The Beekeeper, which I thought was mediocre at best..then it was followed up by American Doll Posse, which is awesome overall..so I think they can bounce back.

Lennon had died by the time "Woman" was released as a single though so sadly he couldn't recover from that one.

Some people say McCartney's "Flowers In The Dirt" (1989) was a return to form but I don't think he's made a decent record since the 1982 single "Take It Away".
