Just wondering which decade was the best musically and artistically. Here are some I remember good and bad.

From the 60's you had:

Chiffons,Crystals,Drifters,Four tops,Temptations,Supremes,Isley Brothers,Smokey Robinson & miracles,Sly & family stone.

the 70's gave us:

Chairman of the board,Chi-lites,Chic,Commodores,Detroit Emeralds,Detroit Spinners,Earth Wind & Fire,Heatwave,Jacksons,Gladys Knight & Pips,O'Jays,Harold Melvin & bluenotes,Rose Royce,Stylistics,Tavares,Three Degrees,War.

The 1980's:

Phil Fearon & galaxy,Grandmaster Melle Mel,Grandmaster Flash,Kool & gang,Shalamar,Sister Sledge,Sugarhill gang.

I think the 60's was the best by far, Drifters,Temptations,Four Tops were good.

I liked from the 70's Chic,Earth wind & fire

not keen on any from the 80's tbh.

talking 'black music'?...

the 60's easy.... motown and stax gave us some of the very best soul ever created. it was raw, but true to its blues roots.

the 70's godamnawful 'sweet soul' was the total oposite of what black music should have been... however funk was better then disco and $h!tting is better then sweet soul.

talking 'black music'?...

yeah its like a history of black music kinda squished together like a playlist just forward of smooth fm

btw look it's Pino D'Angio's Ma Quale Idea

Joe Smooth* etc etc as well as Bobby O, Divine and the Pet Shop Boys  you might find something better suited to you???

stardust - the music sounds better with you

*before they all remembered the disco sucks c**p and wanted to rebrand it, well we're at the Warehouse so why wont we call it Ware Music???

btw why is the R&B, Hip-Hop, Soul and Motown Forum, called the R&B, Hip-Hop, Soul and Motown Forum??? when surely tamla comes under retro?? surly R&B, Hip-Hop, Soul and Bad Boy Forum, R&B, Hip-Hop, Soul and G Unit Forum or R&B, Hip-Hop, Soul and La Face/Arista/J 'n' Jive Forum would be more like 07/08???

Aftermath probs too pop now

have they ever discussed motown in there?... (60's)

It seems only once and it wasnt that successful as a thread. you might recognize one of the people who contributed to this underperforming thread:

Any Soulies out there?

Anyone who goes to the Blackpoo,l Blackburn, Stoke on Trent All Nighters or the Fleetwood Togetherness Weekenders?

Anyone who went to the Wigan Casino in the early days???

Post yor favourite songs and memories here

Im more of a fan of Nu Soul e.g Hope, Jill Scott, Floetry, Hill St Soul

not really, i like 60's motown.... but not 'northern' soul.

now compare it with this one in retro:

think the tamla reference should go from here as obv nobody's gonna put 70s disco and HiNRG disco in the commercial dance area are they??? then again

some more disco classics:

meanwhile some disco classics:

 Chaka Khan - Fate

 Chic - Soup For One

 Madison Avenue - Don't Call Me Baby

madison avenue aint 'retro' <_<

well it is when the video is not Madison Avenue

however that proves right the thought that nobody hardly ever bothers with the videos that are posted from youtube so its a waste of time and effort doing so.

as rather saying Madison Avenue aint retro you might have picked up on the fact that its Pino D'Angio's Ma Quale Idea yet again
