Is Kelly´s relationship with her father really problematic like she sugests in the Because Of You video? I think it must be really embarrasing for him to watch this videos, specially if it´s true must make him feel really bad...

In the BOY video it appears that woman hurt and supposed to be the mother of that little girl, who is mistreated by her father... Together with the lyrics of the song, it makes you think that is Kelly herself talking about her childhood, and if it´s not true it must be a real embarrasment for her father to be pictured in that video as a violent and awful person "you never thought of anyone else you just saw your pain..."

Umm Yeah I think the BOY video is directed at her perhaps troubled childhood with her parents splitting up - I mean that would be painful for anyone.

 

I think she gets on with her dad now though, at one of her uK tour dates I seem to remember her announcing her dad was in the audience that night! So obviously he's in full support of Kelly now.

I was thinking the video has nothing to do with her real life and was just a strategyfor people to feel sorry for her and then buy the album, or maybe to make her music sound more "deep"... Anyway, if she got on with her dad and forgive him, there was no need to released that video(!). I would feel very ashamed of my dad if I was famous and made a song telling everyone how he smacked my mother and was an awful father.

I mean, when her dad is in the crowd watching her shows he must feel real bad when Because of you starts.

Dido fan i take it your not a kelly fan? her music is deep because if you have been in that situation and you can write a song that talks about that issue in a fashionable manner its deep, there is no illusions ;)

Yes, I was just asking if that situation of the song is real or just fictious. Many songwriters write about fictious stories... My point here is that it´s extremely embarrasing to write a song like that and expose this situation to the whole world, I imagine her dad listening to that song on the radio... Anyway, I doubt she wrote the song by herself since there are always professional songwriters credited beside her on the trakcs...

im not 100% sure but i think that kelly wrote this song when she was alot younger, if that is the case then a professional songwriter would not have helped her unless they tweaked little bits

Clarkson singing about breaking a hurtful family cycle in "Because of You".As she had with "Behind These Hazel Eyes", Clarkson wrote the video's treatment herself; it was directed by Vadim Perelman. The video is based on a true story of Clarkson's troubled childhood (due to the nature of the video, she asked her parents for permission before it was created). The young Clarkson is played by the seven year old daughter of band member Jason Halbert.

 

The video starts off one afternoon at the Clarkson household. There, Kelly and her husband are engaged in a heated argument, and at one point he takes a picture of the family and threatens to smash it. However, he never gets the chance to, as time freezes still and her husband becomes immobile; Clarkson, however, is immune to this. Looking around the corners of her house, she sees a sight that suprises her: her younger self.

 

Hand in hand, the younger and older Clarkson relive Clarkson's troubled childhood as various painful memories are seen such as the younger Clarkson making a picture for her father to admire, which is then tossed into the sink, and Clarkson's mother making an unappreciated dinner for her father. These events drive her mother to the point of taking pills and crying publicly in front of the younger Clarkson.

 

The breaking point is finally seen when Clarkson's parents have a physical fight and throw objects at each other. Soon after, Clarkson's father packs his bags, as he is leaving the family; although the younger Clarkson tries to get him to stay, he pulls away. The music video of "Because of You" was officially released on TRL on October 3 2005. It debuted on October 4, 2005 at the top of the countdown. It eventually became Clarkson's third retired video, and spent twenty-seven out of fifty days at number one. Kelly did write the song when she was 16years old. The song is about a real life situation, its about when her parents divorced. However the video completly matches the chorus lyrics.

 

She sings:

"Because Of You, I never stray to far from the sidewalk

Because Of You, I learned to play on the safe side so I dont get hurt

Because Of You I find it hard to trust not only me but everyone around me,

Because Of You, I am afraid"

 

This lyrics are what the video is all about. The video displays who Kelly has become hardened by her parents divorce, and does not want the same to happen again. She saw it from her point but didnt see history repeating herself, and was then taken back in her memory by the small child.

 

I dont thinkher dad will feel embarassed at all, the lyrics are about family breakups, not her dad hitting her mother, and to my knowledge he never did that and him and Kelly have a great relationship now.
