The only tentative Beatles connection I can think of with Darius is his belt buckle or the obvious influence of their early sound on Girl In The Moon.

?????? I haven't picked up on that BT, can you explain it to me please :)

It says what Darius tune are you listening to ? I was trying to figure out a connection between Darius and the Beatles and those were the only 2 I could come up with. He has that white belt buckle that says Beatles on it - haven't you noticed it in any of his pictures?

I haven't seen the belt buckle, but I was asking about "the obvious influence of their early sound on Girl In The Moon" I haven't picked up on that, and just wondered what you meant :)

A lot of people mentioned that it seemed to have a Beatles quality/influence when they first heard it, including me - I think it was described as being 'Beatles-esq' in an album review too - it's the album version that we first heard, when it was first mentioned. It's just a general thing that hit me straight away though, so maybe, it doesn't happen for you Paul. But I'm listening to it now to try and pinpoint some of the things in the song that maybe led me to feel it in the first place. It's the psychedelic Beatles type stuff and it's the music, or general sounds, more than the lyrics that makes a connection for me. Listen to the guitar work in particular, there's a soft under-beat that is sort of going wah-wah-wah-wah quickly a lot of the time, especially in the chorus's - the guitar work is then louder and particularly reminiscent of the Beatles to me; and listen also to the guitar solo. The backing singing of the ahh-ahh's have something to do with it as well.

But then again, I heard a Beatles influence in Mocking Bird - the early live version, the instant I heard it too -but more along the lines of their rocky-pop stuff; Dive In is similar in that way too really. I also hear a ballady type Beatles influence in Right Girl, Wrong Time too -I've just mentioned in another thread on here, that one puts me in mind of And I Love Her; and If I Fell, So, quite often Darius songs seem Beatles-esq to me anyway :)

I must say, I really haven't picked up on any of the things you mention regarding Girl In The Moon, I will have to listen more carefully next time I play it. Having sad that, it wasn't one of my favourites on the album, and it wasn't until I had heard D sing it live that it really started to appeal to me, although I did naturally buy the single with the live versions of Sliding Doors and Gotta Know Tonight :)

I did think Kinda Love had a Beatles feel to it. A sort of "I Am The Walrus" mixed with "Being For The Benefit Of Mr Kite" influence :)

I wondered why I hadn't seen I've Got You Under My Skin available for sale, and have just noticed it was out on a cassette version of GITM. That was why I hadn't seen it on any of my cd's

I've never thought of it with Kinda Love - I'll have to listen to that one again too then :D

Yeah, that cassette version wasn't available everywhere even at release time either - I got lucky because Jill (SisterMother) sent one to me bless her  Girl in the Moon was quite a popular choice for a single release, amongst the members of the official site - from around the time we first heard the Dive In album tracks. I also remember that it was the song that Darius had playing in the background when some fans went down to London for a competition meet and greet - he was keen to know what people thought about it. My special memory of it was at the Dive In album Launch gig at the Trafford Centre - it really sounded good there as it resounded around the Orient - there's a 'sky at night' effect ceiling there and it just really suited the twinkling stars somehow too - it was lovely  I actually preferred that album version of Girl in the Moon to the single version that was eventually released - I wasn't keen on the echoey-tweeks, it's not that much different - but of the two I like the album version the best :)

and I'd just better add (after all that waffle) that I came to post that I was listening to Girl in the Moon

I was at the time - now it's just moved on past Mercury Rising B) and I'm onto Right Girl, Wrong Time now
