This pop song was written by Pink and Billy Mann, for Pink's fourth album 'I'm Not Dead'. The song was also chosen as the lead single*, and it meant a huge and much discussed comeback.
The song was written because Pink was noticing so many girls and young women wanting to be a size 0, and because she thought there was a lack of good role moddels for young girls. Pink said the song was "brought on by several conversations I've had with women and girls. Women have fought so long and hard for our rights and equality, and now all our attention is put on being a size 0", adding that some are "living vicariously through these people who seem to shop all day" rather than focusing on issues such as war and poverty.
Is the above all true or not ^_^
The video for this single was directed by Dave Meyers (he did most of Pink's videos including U+Ur Hand, There You Go, Get The Party Started etc.)
Pink mocks several 'celebrities' in the video. Mary-Kate Olsen by buying an 'itsy bitsy doggy', Paris Hilton by immitating her sex tape '1 night in Paris', Lindsay Lohan by running people over and Jessica Simpson by immitating her washing a car in her video 'These Boots Are Made For Walking'. Most people LOVE the video, because everyone knows Pink is right.
Stupid Girls was a huge succes. It peaked at #1 in Finland, Bulgaria, Venezuela and on the United World Chart, #2 in Canada, Norway and Switserland, and was top 10 in most countries, including the UK, Holland, Germany, Italy, Australia and many more.

* U+Ur Hand OR Stupid Girls were to be the lead single off the album, so the vids were both shot around the same time.

I never liked Stupid Girls that much to be honest. The video is really entertaining and is P!nk's best but the song was pretty poor. I am glad they released it first instead of U + Ur Hand. If U + Ur Hand was released first, Stupid Girls wouldn't have made as much of an impact.
