July 23, 200717 yr Maybe that, and for them to say adelaide was i love - and then look really shy wth each other. Then the songs.
July 23, 200717 yr I could have done without it but, I can see why it was there. The contrast between the two couples is really shown there. The two girls are so different.
July 23, 200717 yr Author I think the contrast is well drawn beforeand that scene sledgehammers it home.
July 23, 200717 yr It does bring the word 'love' into the open which makes them realise they are...but leave it out for me
July 23, 200717 yr The girl who played Adelaide was quite upset about some people's reaction to the character. She put a lot of work into the accent - and it ws really good. A lot of people just didn't like hearing the New York accent though. If she'd dropped the accent she'd have been pilloried for NOT doing a New York accent. I thought she was just so much better than Claire Sweeney. Specially in the seens with sHAUN.
July 23, 200717 yr Author That's such a shame. Lynsey Britton is an excellent actress and singer. I'd definitely go to see her again in a touring production. I thought she played Adelaide really well and she had an even harder task. She had to keep up the New York accent and speak adenoidally all the time. She did it brilliantly. Of the four main characters her's is the least fleshed out. Although she has a lot of the comedy dialogue and songs, her part is less memorable because Nathan is such a dominant character and steals many of their scenes together and the main storyline is the developing romance between Sarah and Sky. Did she feel the same about the other legs of the tour ?
July 23, 200717 yr She thought that Edinburgh was really good. The people there laughed at the jokes and seemed to support her far more than other places had. I think she found Liverpool the worst. I did tell her that she was appreciated there, the audience just reacted differently. It's very difficult for an actor to work through scenes when there is no noticable feed back from the audience. A couple of the reviews were very critical of her accent, which is unfair as she did it so well.
July 23, 200717 yr Author I thought her accent was the same in Edinburgh as Liverpool. From any clips I've seen on youtube etc, Lynsey's accent was far better than Claire's who often let her native British accent come through.
July 23, 200717 yr I have posted this just to get us up to 14,000. Great isn't it? I'm off now. I've got to find out what's happening with the rest of my family.
July 23, 200717 yr Author Are the kitchen shower scene and the last nightclub scene the only times Sky and Miss Adelaide talk to each other? I'll get to post my own 4 000 post in the next couple of weeks I hope.
July 23, 200717 yr Author It's not Chicago or Guys and Dolls but the link below is to instructions for recording cassettes/tapes onto PCs. I thought it was interesting but not in a forum I'd normally read. It's one way of preserving moments in time, so I hope it's OK to put it here. http://www.buzzjack.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=44975
