July 2, 200718 yr It was a brilliant vocal TT, one of the best deliveries of SIO in my opinion. He's certainly looking beefier F/G, although I'd hardly call him a porker - keep him on rations indefinitely ;) I wonder if he's given up the ciggies and is going through the pain barrier, an initial weight gain is very common. Happens to me too when I give up. Trouble is I get so depressed about the weight I end up back on the ciggies
July 2, 200718 yr He didn't look partiicularly 'porky' at Glastonbury. The say that TV adds about 10 pounds. Quote from one of the BBC reporters who was there sitting in the crowd which has been posted on their website. "Will Young in a white suit gets a rousing reception and exhibits a little thing we like to call coordination. No point dwelling on what could have been. I move on." So another bit of positive press _________________ Gill I think he is right - shame it happened but our boy did good. Thanks to Iscagill on D. Edited July 2, 200718 yr by munchkin
July 2, 200718 yr Author Thought I'd start a thread about this. Firstly, I hope the weather is nice and warm and sunny. Secondly, I hope Will's on top form, vocally, entertainment-wise, confidence-wise and in great spirits. Thirdly, I hope he sings 3 songs that I really like. Fourthly, I expect him to be received well by the crowd. I know that's rather general, but as far as specific songs go, I really can't think what I'm expecting. Maybe others can. Who's going? I wasn't going to originally, but I am now after all. :) EDIT: P.S. As far as the rest of the concert is concert, I hope and think I'll enjoy the English National Ballet, Andrew Lloyd Webber's slot, Take That and Natasha Bedingfield. Also looking forward to Elton John, The Feeling, Joss Stone, James Morrison and Lily Allen. Well, what can I say after that? The weather was okay, it didn't rain and sun came out a few times. Not too warm, though. Will was on top form, looked gorgeous and all that, so that one gets a smile. :) Expectation fulfilled. But that's pretty much where it ends. 3 songs? Pah! After a few had sung only 2 (incl. James Morrison) I decided to lower my expectations to 2 songs... well, I guess you all know what happened there. :( :o Just wish I had brought my binoculars. I was just yards away from Will - about 400 yards! The reception was rather lukewarm. I guess that had little to do with Will, though, but everything with the song choice. If he had done 2 (as clear had been originally planned), the unfamiliarity with SIO would have been balanced with the popularity of Leave Right Now. As for the rest of the concert, I struggled to enjoy anbody else after Will had gone. The only thing that made up for Will's early exit was that he was immediately followed by Natasha, my other top favourite, but alas, her set was cut short, too, though I thought she sang brilliantly. After that I was licking my wounds for quite a while before I could enjoy anything again. Out of the rest, I enjoyed James M, the ALW section, and Take That best. And the Ballet was a definite highlight, too. Lili Allen was alright and Joss Stone was alright for one song, the rest was a bit. I think she has a brilliant voice but she just overdoes it. Bottom line: never again will I spend that many pennies on such a concert. Being at Wembley stadium for the first time was kind of special, though, but I think I wouldn't got there for a concert again, unless I had a much better seat.
July 2, 200718 yr Thanks for your review Toni. It was bad enough sitting through all that in the comfort of my own home so I can just imagine how deflated you must have felt paying all that money to only get one Will song. :(
July 2, 200718 yr Thanks for your report Toni, I think both Will and Natasha's slots were very badly handled and confused the crowd, if Will had got to sing LRN he would have got to say hello to the audience and it would have had everyone singing along, such a shame really. :( But I'm pleased you enjoyed most of your day and Will did give an excellent performance of SIO and looked gorgeous to boot.
July 2, 200718 yr And I got my wishes too: I just want his microphone to be working and the sound spot on. There is one other thing I wish for ..... that those bloody cameramen don't keep swinging away from the action on the stage to show us panoramic views - especially when our bloke is on. At least they got something right  Thanks Toni - Edited July 2, 200718 yr by munchkin
July 2, 200718 yr Author Yeah, munchkin, I agree with you there. I could hear Will loud and clear, from the off. :) There were some problems with some of the other acts, sound-wise.
July 2, 200718 yr Yeah, munchkin, I agree with you there. I could hear Will loud and clear, from the off. :) There were some problems with some of the other acts, sound-wise. I felt for Fergie - singing her heart out with her microphone not switched on - poor girl. This is what I was fearful would happen with Will - it has before.
July 2, 200718 yr I really enjoyed the concert ...really glad i went though i was disappointed that Will only got 1 song, i thought the his reception was good ...but the audience seemed confused when he only did one song and left the stage  NB was not greeted with raptous applause either ...I actually started to feel sorry for Joss the crowd was positively stone cold to her ...could not stand Lily Allen/Rod stewart/American rappers :puke2: but especially enjoyed Nelly/The Feeling listening to the radio afterwards they played WAI and said "will young" what a brilliant performance he gave at wembley tonight" Blog from a lady in SA Concert for Diana Wow! What can I say. Along with the rest of the world I watched the Concert for Diana last night and I have to say 'Hats Off' to Prince's William & Harry for putting together the most awesome concert I have ever seen. It was truly the most amazing line up of artists & announcers and I loved how they mixed that with different 'Diana & Me' features. The highlight of the concert for me was the Andrew Lloyd Webber segment in particular the 'Joseph and his Amazing Technicolour Dream Coat' with Donny Osmond, Jason Donovan & Lee Mead and then of course the group 'Take That' who are a totally awesome group. Other memorable performances from the evening for me were: Rod Stewart's 'Sailing', P Diddy's 'Missing You' and another part of Andrew Lloyd Webber's segment - 'Phantom of the Opera' with songs by Andrea Bocelli and Josh Groban & Sarah Brightman. I have to also add that I was totally impressed with Will Young's song & dance routine. As I said a truly amazing concert and worth the six and a half hours.
July 2, 200718 yr Pink News Gay performers shine at Diana concert Gay performers Elton John and Will Young were joined by Duran Duran, Rod Stewart, Supertramp to pay tribute to the people's Princess in Wembley Stadium yesterday, on what would have been Diana's 46th birthday. The concert, the result of a year of planning, concluded with Princes William and Harry paying an emotional tribute to their mother, Diana, Princess of Wales, who died in a car crash in Paris in 1997. A 63,000-strong crowd joined in the bittersweet celebration of the late princess' life, despite the rain. Elton John, who shared with Diana a long friendship and a concern for those affeceted by HIV and AIDS, shed tears as the princes spoke of their memories of their late mother. Hollywood actress Gillian Anderson described the late princess an 'icon of giving,' who was deeply involved in charity work around the world, especially in Africa. The proceeds raised from the concert will go to charities Diana was involved with during her lifetime, including the National AIDS Trust (NAT). There was increased security at Wembley due to the recent terror alerts. The audience and the royals were heavily protected by uniformed and plainclothes police officers deployed throughout the stadium. Duran Duran amused the crowd by praying for the sun to come out and performed a set that included their hit Rio, reportedly a favourite of the late princess. Will Young, who performed in a white suit, and Take That, triumphant after a sell-out comeback tour, had the crowds screaming. The show included artists who were Diana's favourites alongside some of the prince's choices, such as Lily Allen, who performed her hit single Smile. Prince William showed off his dance moves during Nelly Furtado's performance of her hit track Maneater, much to the embarrassment of his younger brother. Kate Middleton, William's ex-girlfriend, was in the crowd, while Prince Harry was joined buy his current sweetheart, Chelsey. A touch of high culture came in the form of a tribute performance of an extract from Swan Lake by the English National Ballet, of which Diana was a patron. Tom Jones sang a cover version of The Artic Monkeys' hit I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor. Elton John, who opened the concert, also concluded it, with a moving four-song set that included Your Song. From a blog from the USA :P I’m not going to say I’m a little embarassed about enjoying this one, but how can I resist Will Young? He reminds me of Robbie Williams JzmzH1pQrkQ Edited July 2, 200718 yr by BanYellowm+m's
July 2, 200718 yr Author Oooh, thanks for those, BanYellowM&Ms (your name is always challenging to type out  ).
July 2, 200718 yr Lovely to see he is mentioned with only 4 other names picked out  The Sun PRINCESS DIANA'S memorial concert attracted a whopping audience of nearly 15 million TV viewers. BBC1 aired live coverage of the Wembley event yesterday afternoon, as the sounds of Elton John, Duran Duran, Lily Allen, Will Young and Take That filled our living rooms. The event even drew bigger audiences than Live 8, which broadcast on the BBC exactly two years ago. That night, viewing peaked at 9.6 million for Robbie Williams' stage slot at the Hyde Park show. However, the smoking ban and bad weather may have helped boost BBC1 figures yesterday as people chose to stay indoors - whereas the sun was out on Live 8 day in 2005. The Concert for Diana - organised by sons William and Harry - even beat popular ITV1 soaps Emmerdale and Corrie, while Channel 4's Big Brother shows also suffered. It is now ten years since Diana died in a fateful car crash with Dodi Al-Fayed. from a blog :D included many wonderful acts Sir Elton John ,who opened and closed the show ,Bryan Ferry,,Status Quo,,Duran Duran,,Will Young..Tom Jones,,Nelly Fortado,,James Morrison,
July 2, 200718 yr Thanks BYM&Ms - wish people didn't feel they should be embarrassed by liking Will. What, I wonder, is causing the embarrassment   Edited July 2, 200718 yr by munchkin

Well yes, actually. Anyone familiar with my musical preferences will know just how surprised I am to find myself typing in Will Young's name, but the white-suit-with-dancers number he did around 7.30 was superb' :yahoo:
July 2, 200718 yr Thanks for all the little tit bits and comments. It really does say something for Will that such good comments have been made just on one song, and on a song that isn't necessarily everyone's favourite. It is mine though!! As I've said I had to video the concert. I've now watched it back - Will was brilliant, so slick and professional, :cheer: and I loved the little interview with Fearne. Tell me - my vid seems to end very abruptly after that ghastly RG - did the BBC pull the plug at the end? :???: Edited July 2, 200718 yr by chrysalis
