June 30, 200718 yr Saturday, June 30, 2007 'Concert for Diana' lineup set Music giants to pay tribute to the life of the people's princess. By JIM FARBER New York Daily News Princes William and Harry had just one request for their mother's favorite musician, Sir Elton John, for her anniversary concert this weekend. They asked that he not perform the weepy "Candle in the Wind," the song he revealed at her funeral with new, and especially maudlin, lyrics. After all, this is a concert meant to celebrate Princess Diana's life, not commemorate her death, which occurred 10 years ago. VH1 plans to air all six hours of the show from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.. The five-hour time difference from London accounts for the early hour here. NBC will broadcast highlights of the event at 8 p.m. According to VH1, the day will be divided into three 90-minute segments, with the middle bit a tad fatter. Twenty-minute breaks will fall between segments, but the nonperformance sections will be crammed with lots of taped segments, toasting Diana's life and explaining her personal connections to some of the performers. Here's a current rundown of who's set to appear: First segment A welcome from Princes William and Harry Elton John Nelly James Morrison Lily Allen The Feeling Fergie Duran Duran The English National Ballet Second segment Status Quo Joss Stone Orson Roger Hodgson of Supertramp Tom Jones Will Young Natasha Bedingfield Pharrell Bryan Ferry An Andrew Lloyd Webber performance, featuring Donny Osmond and Andrea Bocelli. Third segment Rod Stewart Kanye West Diddy Take That (plus Special Guest) Elton John I hope it's the right set, Will followed by Natasha, it should be a magic moment! Do we know what songs he'll perform? I know Natasha will do 'Unwritten' and 'Soulmate'...
June 30, 200718 yr Thanks for the order Bertie. I'm sure Will will shine in his slot. Could Robbie be about to take to the stage with Take That?

June 30, 200718 yr Thanks for the "order sheet". Now do we have a run-down on exactly which channels are showing what? I know coverage starts at 3.30pm on BBC1, but I read somewhere that they may perhaps cut bits out! :o

July 1, 200718 yr Well I hope they don't cut Will's "bits' out! all I've seen so far is Joss Stone prancing around with the two Princes everywhere. Inclined to agree with you about Joss Stone. At the moment it's looking more like the Joss Stone show, with guest artists  Someone on DS says he'll be on 'mime watch' when she's on. Yesterday when they showed her rehearsing, she stopped singing but the song carried on, maybe that was just the backing track though ;)

July 1, 200718 yr Can anyone explain what's happening with the VH1 transmission. I've looked at their schedule for today and tomorrow and there's no sign but I'm sure I've seen that they are showing the concert in full - confused of Swindon :???:
July 1, 200718 yr Just been posted on D by aj - from the programme:- http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a379/dafyd/Dianaconcert.jpg Will Young In a career spanning five years, he's won two Brit awards, had four number one singles, three top two albums and has clocked up sales of 7 million. Crowned the original Pop Idol in 2002, Will Young's first single was the fastest selling chart debut by a male artist, which was followed by the hugely successful album 'From Now On'. With hits including 'Leave Right Now', 'Your Game' and the beautiful album title track 'Friday's Child', Will's second album, released at the end of 2003, went on to sell over 1.5 million copies and was hailed as one of the best albums of the year. His third multi-platinum selling album 'Keep On' was released in late 2005, reenforcing his position as one of the UK's most successful male solo artists. Will made his acting debut to much critical acclaim in 2005 in the Stephen Frears film 'Mrs Henderson Presents', where he starred alongside Dame Judi Dench and Bob Hoskins. Earlier this year Will had a leading role in the Noel Coward play 'The Vortex', which had a successful two month run in Manchester. Will is due to appear in BBC1's 'Saving Planet Earth' series in June 2007 in a one hour special documenting a journey he made to Gabon in Africa to highlight the plight of the Lowland Gorilla. Will is currently working on his fourth studio album. Edited July 1, 200718 yr by chrysalis

I don't think we will get it here because the BBC have exclusive rights in the UK. Edited July 1, 200718 yr by munchkin
