Posted June 26, 200718 yr Elvis' voice could handle any style of music there was, but what do you think he was best at? I'd say in the 50's, his voice was best at rock and roll type music (he didn't become the King of Rock and Roll for nothing ;) ), but by the 70's he was best at country and gospel. What do you think? :o
June 26, 200718 yr For me, it's not just about his voice, but more about how he was able to convey the sentiments of the song with feeling, which not every singer is able to do as well as he did. His voice did change over the years, in fact he had a greater range in later years. I love the early rock n roll stuff, the excitement and originality of his voice was amazing. I can only imagine the effect it had on the young people then, having not experienced someone like Elvis before. I love the ballads and gospel music too. Probably, if I was pushed I would say that is my favourite style of Elvis singing. There's a great article which describes Elvis' voice and it's uniqueness (is that a word, lol) I'll post a link to it shortly ;)
June 26, 200718 yr Here's the article - it makes great reading B) 'About his musical and singing style and as a vocalist' It says it so much more eloquently than I ever could. http://en.wikiquote.org/wiki/Elvis_Presley
