I'm sure you're right about Max Clifford TT, a man I despise more than Louis Walsh, odious little scrote.

I often wonder whether it was this or Cowell's public humiliation of him in the states that Will was referring to when he said he'd been screwed over once & he wouldn't let it happen again. It must be soul destroying to find those who are supposed to be supporting you plotting your downfall. Just shows his strength of character not many others would have survived let alone gone on to greater success.

Simon Fuller was always on his side and he was a powerful ally back then. I think Ged Doherty was another that played fair with Will and I think it was these two that made sure Will was removed from the Simon connection, before Will walked. ;) (What a story that would have been)

There's no doubt in my mind that Will is very honest when he says that his personal happiness comes first and that he'd walk awy from everything if was ever compromised in a big way.

Will went into a meeting with Simon F after the show with his lawyers, notebook at the ready with all his questions written down and Simon brought up every point before Will even had a chance to ask them. Gareth never read his contract and, I would assume, left his parents to deal with it and just signed on the dotted line.

I'm sure I read that Will actually said to Cowell that if he wasn't happy he(Will) was quite willing to end it there and then.

I remember Will being very surprised that Gareth hadn't even bothered to read his contract but not all the other details. It's all very enlightening but not surprising knowing what an astute young man Will is.

Didn't he shock them all at 19 by asking where his desk was? Bet their faces were a picture.

Thanks for all your informative posts ..I was not online until later in Will's career so most of this info is new to me and very interesting

He said that he learnt from his father..not to let anyone screw you over twice..once was it..and never again. you can forgive perhaps..but you don't forget.

the best thing about that whole time for me?..was Simon saying that early one morning while he was in the States Will called him about the things he was saying, ..he said Will called him immature..and he HAD to admit to it being true. i did and still do find that an amazing thing for Will to have done to his then record label boss. and never a word from Will about it either..he's quite something.

balls of steel our man.

hello everyone. :hi:

Hi SWF - that deputy editor on that TV programme said as much(saying he was very forceful and knows his own mind) and that he would have gone the way of Gareth if he didn't. Will doesn't criticise others in public but does have his own way of dealing with things.

I like that about Will, he never washes his dirty laundry in public and i'm chuffed that Will had the "balls of steel" to phone Cowell up in America and tell him off for being immature.

and a big hello to you again SWF. :hi:

Thanks everyone..i've been about..here and there..doing this and that..you know how it is.

the Bear things interesting...i don't think he's into that though..he likes his men a little more feminine IMO..but he may know a man who is.

his stubble has become a beard more often that not since his dating don't you think?

There's not many of those around in the music industry. Could Will be any more different to this X Factor winner:

Someone in X Factor winner Shayne Ward’s camp recently let slip that Ward’s manager had been busy planning his wardrobe for the next six months! When today’s pop stars can’t even dress themselves, is it any wonder people are taking inspiration from the past?

Thanks for this Times snippet from sunday.

Thanks TT, the Times snippet made me laugh, can you just imagine will's face if he was told what to wear? he does scrub up well on occasion as we all know, but I still love scruffy eccentric Will the best.
Heard Tery Wogan advertising the Proms on tv earlier, mentioned Lesley Garrett & special guest Will Young. :yahoo:
