Loving the thoughts of threepiecesuit on the 'Changes' clip.

I'm prepared to go out on a limb and say that I think 'Changes' or whatever it ends up being called was produced by Eg White, so likely co-written as well.

Due to the fact that I have FAR too much time on my hands I identified a few features of Eg's production/general 'sound' (obviously each one doesn't feature in every song he's done, but definitely most)...

- rhythmic, 'rounded' sounding and fairly sparse drum beats over the verses

- quickening drum roll going into the chorus

- chorus accompanied by strings and horns

- structurally speaking, repetition of the chorus towards the end of the song

- overall quite 'organic', 'traditional' sound, vocals unusually prominent for pop songs

Listen to the songs 'You Give Me Something' and 'Wonderful World' by James Morrison and 'Chasing Pavements' by Adele on youtube, which were all produced by him, then the 'Changes' clip, and I think you'll agree there are more than passing similarities.

We should be pleased because obviously this is a 'sound' that sells BIG TIME, all of the songs I just listed were massive airplay hits and launched successful albums.

There will of course be more quirky things on the album I'm sure, as I think I remember reading somewhere that Will was working with multiple producers, so it won't have just this one sound.

The reason LRN didn't sound like the songs I've listed was because Steve Lipson produced it, as far as I can recall.

An Eg White co-written/produced track given his current record gets the  from me.

I didn't realise that Eg had a hand in Chasing Pavements, because strangely enough, although the two songs aren't really alike, Chasing Pavements is the song 'Changes' reminds me of. I start to hum Changes and then I go off into CP :D

Natalie Imbruglia's 'Shiver' is another one Changes bought to mind, although it might have more to do with my hearing than anything else, who knows? :P

Don't think it's your hearing Marguerite I can hear a resemblance to Shiver too. :)

Ah, that's alright then, it's always nice when you can hear something yourself

and others can too:D

I know Eg was responsible for shiver, so although I don't really know the James Morrison tracks, I would say judging by the three I do know, then three piece suit is probably on the ball with her connection to Eg White

Editing to add:

I've just seen the thread in Reviews over on D. I swear I hadn't seen it before I posted on here because I now see that someone else had already pointed out the resemblance to Shiver and you had too TT. I wasn't jumping on the bandwagon, honest, but it just shows, that there really is a similarity then.

Thanks TT. She may be right about Eg. Musicians, like vocalists, have their own sound. Maybe this is why I sometimes get bored with a particular singer/songwriter because they inevitably start to sound samey. Because Will doesn't play an instrument he can pick and choose who he works with to produce a particular feel/vibe. It certainly makes for an eclectic album :P

Must be if a few of us can hear it. :D I really like the James Morrison tracks too so if right this should be right up my street. :yahoo:

Editing to say I always though threepiecesuit was male. Don't know why but I did?

Just been reading all your posts, very interesting and if it's a song co-written with Eg it'll suit me fine, I'm loving the Changes clip.
I can still hear his voice and the refrain(if it is the chorus of course :P ) and sing that one line so it bodes well for a good hook.

I am the same. I thought at first it was the proximity of the two songs but I think the speculation is probably correct.
