Yes it was in the programme PI One Year On. He was asked what he might be doing in years to come (or something like that), and he said he'd still be singing somewhere probably on the end of Bournemouth Pier. Then says "Remember this pop idol" and sings in a crocky, old sounding voice, a bit of EG. He then falls about laughing, and you can hear the interviewer laughing as well.

Brilliant. :yahoo: Thanks munchkin. What a lovable nutter.

While searching for a pic of the battlebus I came acroos this on Parkinson's website. Made me smile. :D :D

Will Young is a rare young talent because he not only has the sophistication to outwit those who predicted he would be a one hit wonder but he has the style of an old-fashioned showman.

Will is difficult to pigeon-hole as he appeals to teenage girls as the pop star, older women as the thoughtful jazz singer, men as a gay icon and now film buffs too as he embarks on a second career as a movie star at only 26.

This November he makes his acting debut in a big British film; Mrs Henderson Presents alongside Dame Judi Dench and Bob Hoskins and is already attracting adoring reviews. He will simultaneously release a new single and third album. As well as versatile talent, Will can put his longevity down to the fact that he works at his trade in a nine till five discipline and thrives to be an artist rather than a celebrity. He is a determined young man who manages his own affairs and has complete control over his public image and his work.

Pop Idol made Will Young an overnight success in 2002 but critics predicted that his popularity would diminish as quickly as he had been catapulted to fame by the TV talent show. However, more than three years on Will is one of the UKï½¹s most successful young artists with six top five singles, two number one albums and two Brit Awards under his belt.

Nearly five million people voted Will to fame but he has kept his feet firmly on the ground. When the tabloids outed him as gay it caused a minor crisis in pop-world but Will dealt with the revelations with rare maturity as he strove for a reputation as a serious musician and nothing more. Will's self-control has seen him survive the test of time against all the odds in a fickle entertainment industry.

To top in all off Will won the Rear of the Year award in September this year.

Thanks TT. Nice piece, although I still get annoyed that they say he was outed by the press. He wasn't - he outed himself, at a time when it could have destroyed his budding career. I've always admired him for doing that - it took guts. It must really have made him popular with the press, who thought they had one over on him. It took a long time for them to forget that, and even to-day some haven't.

Thanks TT. Me too Chryalis but I think he would much rather have done it himself in the way he could control the press release, rather than let that horrid newspaper do it in their no doubt salacious, condemning and sensationalistic way. And how ironic that the newspaper involved employed a journalist - Peter Wildeblood - who was the catalyst for everything that followed after his trial and subsequent input on the Wolfenden Report.

Thanks Munchkin  - that's the one. I can hear that laugh in my head.

Really makes me laugh thinking about it. He couldn't stop laughing and was banging his feet up and down on the deck and it was his own joke! :lol (There aren't emotions)! It was hilarious!

That was a bit out of place at the end of the report wasn't it!?

Great write up though. :D

Any news on your grandson suggy?

My daughter rang me up about an hour ago TT, my grandson has had that cream put on his wrist and she's been told they'll take him to theatre between 9-10am, he's really scared bless him but he's only 7yrs old, she made me laugh as she said A&E is like her second home, I told her it's like that for every mum especially during the school holidays and not to worry.

Glad they are doing the op early save you worrying all day. :friends: I'm sure he'll be fine. Kids are tougher than we think & soon bounce back.

Thanks to melle on Devoted.

7. Will Young

I remember there being a big furore when Will Young came out following his Pop Idol win. Were people blind? Surely I wasn't the only one who'd figured it out long before then, watching the early episodes and seeing smart, sweet and sensitive Will writing in his diary and sitting in corners looking all emotional? Now he's dancing around in dapper three piece suits (often white) and working the geek chic look. I love him for it. So should you!

Forgot to mention, but two days ago, I was watching some French program on TV, and suddenly "All Time Love" came up!!

I was soooo excited lol, they used about 2 mins of the song, I was so surprised! lol :P

And I was chatting to a friend on MSN, and she said to me "ALL TIME LOVE"!! And an other friend texted me to say ATL was played  I must have done a great job with them coz they know the classic Will songs

They used to play it a few times on the French Pop Idol during the auditions too lol

Always nice to listen to a Will song on TV, especially in a country where he is unknown lol
