What else do you have going on?

I'm finishing up my record right now. It's my favorite music I've ever done, basically. And I'm in a movie called Tennessee - I play Krystal. The character is very different from me and I think people are going to be surprised - she's very unglamorous, very raw.

I believe Mariah last said that about Butterfly [My favourite Mariah album.], therefore this HAS to be good. :dancing:

MARIAH Carey has treated girlfriends to an exclusive playback of her new album from the comfort of her spa bath.

The bathing beauty, 38, told Interview magazine: “I sat in the hot tub the other night playing some songs for some friends and one of them felt that it was a very pro-woman kind of thing.”

But fear not fellas, the diva’s new LP isn’t just aimed at ladies. She said: “It’s not that the songs are male-bashing.

“It’s a fun record. I’m writing with a lot different people, mainly rappers, and I will bring something to the table that they wouldn’t have and vice versa.”

Jermaine Dupri talked about a new Mariah track during an interview at the grand opening party for his Atlanta club, Studio 72, last night.

If she's playing material for people it MUST almost be done. :D Some girly songs, excellent.

"I'm mixing one of Mariah's records today," JD said. "I don't know if it's her first single, but I'm mixing one of the records that I think L.A. [Reid, head of Island Def Jam] is thinking about as one of her first singles."

The song is so top-secret, Dupri said he hasn't even heard it yet.

"I don't even know," he answered when questioned about the record's specifics. "You know what's crazy about the Mariah records? When I work on a Mariah record, she always goes home and records her vocals without me. I ain't heard the song! She calls and tells me, 'I finished, let's go and do it.'

"She's a person that you have to respect her for doing her job," he added. "She respects me for doing my job. When I'm in the studio, she don't question what kick [-drum sound] I use. She don't question if I'm using the right snare. She might say, 'I ain't feeling it.' I could say the same thing. There's been plenty of times when I've said, 'Mariah, I think you need to sing this part over.' But after the last album, we got a pretty good understanding. She knows what I'm looking for from her now. We're hoping we have the same formula this time."

Looks like this COULD be the first single. :o Sounds very promising, I really hope we won't be disappointed by this, afterall Mimi is a tough act to follow. :o

Also HMV has the album slated for a 19th of November release with the title Illusions: The Butteryfly Within.

The 19th is a Monday so it could be possible which is excellent news, with the exception of that hideous title which must go.

I seriously can't wait for this album!!! TEOM was pure genius!

Never knew you were a fan Mikal! :o

Ooooh the excitement :w00t:

Hopefully she out-do's Mimi

Well from the reports and stuff floating around it sounds VERY promising. :o
Mariah Carey lived up to her diva tag when she joined Black Eyed Peas star will.i.am in the studio recently - she wore a ball gown.

But the hip-hop super producer insists that Carey wasn't trying the make a statement. She just couldn't be bothered to change. The My Humps hitmaker explains, "Mariah was cool. She came into the studio wearing a big ball gown. "She was like, 'I'm so sorry! I know everybody thinks I'm a diva, but I'm wearing this because I've just come from a party and I didn't want to go home and change.'

"She's a real diva in her own right, but she is real cool." The producer admits he can handle the occasional diva, but insists the big stars he agrees to work with leave their bodyguards at home. He adds, "I remind them not to take themselves so seriously: 'When you come into the studio, leave the bodyguards in the f**king lobby. Why bring them into the studio? Is the mike going to choke you? Relax.'"

Well forget the ball gown for the moment. This is the first I have heard about a Mariah/Will.I.Am collaboration. Not sure how much I like that idea. -_-

Singer-songwriter Terius "The Dream" Nash, responsible for writing two of this year's most unavoidable smashes -- Rihanna's "Umbrella" and J. Holiday's "Bed," tells Blender he is working on Mariah's album:

Who are some people you're working with now?

"I just listened to a song on Kanye's new album, I'm gonna get on it. It's called 'Big Brother.' I'm going to sing on the remix. And I'm waiting for stuff to clear so I can work with Janet Jackson. And I'm working on Mariah's album, too."

Quite a lot of news about lately. :o

Never knew you were a fan Mikal! :o

HUGE fan Kelly :)

Her voice itself is just amazing :D

Mariah Carey

Title TBD Out November 20th

Mariah Carey's last album The Emancipation of Mimi was the breakout hit of 2005 selling more than 5 million copies (in the U.S. alone). For the follow-up, she's hewing close to Mimi's glossy, club-ready sound, with beats from Jermaine Dupri, Stargate, Bryan Michael Cox and Will.i.am. "Seriously, I can't wait to put this record out," says Carey. "I'm in the studio day and night trying to cook it to perfection. If the last album was dinner, treat this as dessert."

This seriously just HAS to be good. :o

In related news, Randy Jackson, calling in to Ryan Seacrest's KIIS FM show this morning from the American Idol Season 7 auditions in Charleston, South Carolina, briefly mentioned Mariah and described her upcoming album as "blazing hot record that's coming out soon."

Blazing hot.

Can't wait, I love her older stuff though, but TEOM was pretty good
