Does anyone know if Maroon 5 has given credit to other artists for their song melodies? Some of their tunes are blatant copies of older songs. I'm curious as to what others think of this. Does anyone else besides me know?? Discuss.

i havent heard of them been accused of any copying so far usually if a band does its all in th epress

I think I know what you mean... listen to their new album just once and you can tell they've stolen part of The Police's "Every Breath You Take". I'll ignore that though, because I assume they have permission and the songs are good :P

Listen to the song entitled "Nothing Lasts Forever." Each verse follows the exact same notes as a 1975 song entitled "At Seventeen" by Janis Ian. Just Wondering if anyone else made the connection...?

That's one of the songs I recognised, and 'Not Falling Apart' as well.

I think the one part at the beginning of Goodnight Goodnight sounds like 3 Doors Down-Kryptonite.

That's exactly how I feel.

 

But I think if they had stolen stuff then they'd have gone through all the right processes and have got permission, as they really are blatant copies that are not hard to tell apart and it's not as if Maroon 5 are a small band that no-one's gonna notice if they've ripped off songs. :lol:
