Posted July 1, 200718 yr Yep it's that time again, Andre has a new MJ album :P OK, I've actually listened through this quite a few times before posting, so I can give a proper review of it. I've got nothing else to do on account of NO 6TH FORM EVER AGAIN :w00t: so why not? At first I was quite disappointed, all of the songs seemed to blend into each other and I have noticed a decline in quality from the Bad era onwards. However, here is my brief song by song review :P 1. Jam - On first listen this was just plain NOISE and it was the start of a very disappointing first listen for me :( However, it's definitely a grower and I now find myself singing it to myself, I like the random shouts of "JAM" Still, goes without saying that while this is one of the best on the album it is nowhere near the quality of stuff on Bad, Thriller or Off The Wall. 7/10 2. Why You Wanna Trip On Me? - This is one of those songs that BLENDS. Sounds like it's trying to be 'Jam' at first, the beats are all so similar :( However, most certainly not a bad song - if a bit long. 6/10 3. In The Closet - Ooh now this is a song melikes  I like the quiet whispering at the beginning (where it sounds like it's going to be a really nice ballady song then those pesky beats start again <_< ) and LOVE the "chorus", which doesn't kick in until about 2 and a half minutes into it  I thought this would be about or concerned with a certain something as well, which strangely it has nothing to do with at all  Silly me  Too long, but one of the best on the album. 8/10 4. She Drives Me Wild - SKIP. 5/10 5. Remember The Time - I remember when MJ was releasing all of his singles at the beginning of last year and I heard this and thought it was the blandest BLANDFEST of all time. BUT, after a few listens this has shaped up to be one of the best on the album. And I love the hook at the beginning "Do you remember...?", makes you want to start singing along straight away. Also, this doesn't suffer from "Michael Jackson lengthening disease", it's actually a decent length  Oh and Eddie Murphy is in the video :w00t: 8.5/10 6. Can't Let Her Get Away - I recognise the beat actually, it must’ve been stolen for another song or something. I don’t really like this tbh, it’s got no decent hook (like 2 and 4 actually). Bland. 5/10 7. Heal The World – This song is probably the only one on the album that justifies being as long as it is (6:25). It’s a nice, slow ballad about saving the world, so it’s basically ‘Earth Song’ but slower. It sounds a bit sanctimonious and reminds me of a certain Jarvis Cocker/Earth Song moment, but it’s a pleasant little ditty (I’ve tried so hard to fit that word in somewhere ^_^). HEAL THE WORLD, MAKE IT A BETTER PLACE, FOR YOU AND FOR ME AND THE ENTIRE HUMAN RACE. Knowsit. 8/10 8. Black Or White – The only song I knew before I bought this album. Classic Michael Jackson, I can’t really review it on account of hearing it a bazillion times already. 9/10 9. Who Is It – Nice song about infidelity methinks. One thing stands out about this song, he asks “her” if the man she’s cheating on him with is his brother. Yeah, because that’s the only person it could be? That’s just my cynical side making a point, it’s a bad lyric  7/10 10. Give In To Me – This is my favourite song on the album. A ballad with balls B) It’s the sort of song that would sound really good played really loud, I think. Nice ballady verses with a shouty sing-a-long chorus ^_^ 8.9/10 (not quite a 9 but nearly). 11. Will You Be There? – TOO LONG. Nice enough, but too long and forgettable. 7/10 12. Keep The Faith – Sounds like a gospel choir should be singing it :o Forgettable again but at least it has a hook this one. I’m getting bored of reviewing now  7/10 13. Gone Too Soon – This reminds me of ‘She’s Out Of My Life’ or ‘Human Nature’. One of those simple ballads that Michael does really well imo, just his voice and very basic instrumental. Here he compares his relationship to a comet blazing across the evening sky, a rainbow fading in the twinkling of an eye, sunlight on a cloudy afternoon, a castle built upon a sandy beach… metaphors galore :o 9/10 (OK, so ‘Give In To Me’ isn’t my fave  I’m a sucker for a ballad. ) 14. Dangerous – TOOOOOO LONG. :arrr: The bland beats that dominated the beginning of the album return, but it’s one of those dancy, sing-a-longable songs like ‘Billie Jean’ (though extremely inferior). I like how he talks the verses, a different approach from him ^_^ 7.5/10 So to conclude, I would reccommend the album, but only if you're a Michael Jackson fan because otherwise you'd probably be turned off. Only one of the songs off this album has survived in it's own right, even though NINE songs were released from it, which says something about the overall quality. It ranks as fourth out of five albums I've bought so far, 'Invincible' was just too bland for a second listen
July 1, 200718 yr Great review ^_^ Give In To Me is my fave on this album  Remember The Time and In The Closet are two of my faves too. Black And White is immensly overated imo, never really liked it :(

July 4, 200718 yr I Liked your review, although disagree on some points. Dangerous is in my opinion better than Off The Wall, Thriller, And Bad. Dangerous sounds so fresh, if it was released oday you would not think atall that it was made in 1990/1991. Jam Is my favourite song as I have said, and I think you need to let the album grow on you, but once it does, you will change a lot of your points :)
