July 4, 200718 yr Author Okay, so sadly (in some cases), the following artists received votes, but not enough to make the Top 40 of the countdown ^_^ Is there anyone you would've placed higher? :o The number by the artist is their points score (not number of votes). 2Pac - 11 50 Cent - 2 702 - 10 Amy Winehouse - 12 Anastacia - 20 Blaque - 4 Boyz II Men - 6 Chris Brown - 18 Christina Milian - 19 Coolio - 6 Craig David - 13 Diana Ross - 7.5 Dr. Dre - 8 Deborah Cox - 4 En Vogue - 18 Estelle - 10 Eternal - 17 Eve - 9 Gabrielle - 2 Gnarls Barkley - 12 Gwen Stefani - 15 Gym Class Heroes - 18 James Brown - 16 James Morrison - 18 Javine - 16 Katharine McPhee - 7 Keisha White - 2 Lenny Kravitz - 6 Lil Kim - 10 Lionel Richie - 9 LL Cool J - 1 Lupe Fiasco - 13 Lynden David Hall - 8 Macy Gray - 7 Marques Houston - 1 Mis-Teeq - 16 Mya - 14 Nelly - 4 NERD - 13 Omarion - 14 Outkast - 20 Pharrell - 2 Prince - 11 R Kelly - 19 Raghav - 18 Robin Thicke - 10 Sade - 8 Samantha Mumba - 13 Sean Paul - 15 Snoop Dogg - 3 Stacie Orrico - 3 Stevie Wonder - 1 SWV - 12 T-Pain - 7 Tamia - 19 Terence Trent D'Arby - 2 Teriyaki Boyz - 5 Terri Walker - 12 The Game - 1 The Streets - 20 Toni Braxton - 13 Tyler James - 15 Will Smith - 12 So were there any surprises there? Most of the above artists received just 1 vote and none got more than 3; perhaps some of those who surprisingly didnt make the Top 40 are R Kelly, Mis-teeq and Eve? :( She deserved better IMO. The Top 40 is beginning next! :funky:
July 4, 200718 yr Author I had doubts over the inclusion of James too  Anastacia could be though, as her first two albums were heavily soul-influenced ;) #40 coming next!
July 4, 200718 yr :o @ En Vogue, Eternal & SWV not making the top 40 :o :( Well I don't know about others, but I wasn't sure we could vote for bands/groups. Otherwise I would have included them 3 :(
July 4, 200718 yr Author Yes, you can vote for groups  Too late now though! Im sure Destiny's Child got mentioned in the thread lol. #40 next (i keep saying that but im gonna follow it through lol).
July 4, 200718 yr Yes, you can vote for groups  Too late now though! I feel stupid now haha! :( Rihanna for #1 :D
July 4, 200718 yr Author 40th: The Supremes: 20.5 Points. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/d/db/TheSupremes.jpg Originally known as The Primettes, The Supremes' most famous member was of course Diana Ross, who later achieved solo success. The group split after several member changes in 1977 but will be forever remembered for producing such soul classics as 'Baby Love', which topped both the US and UK charts.
July 4, 200718 yr Author What do you all make of the Supremes - worthy of a position in the top 40? And who do you think will top the chart?
July 4, 200718 yr I thought they would be higher, but then again most of the people who voted for them weren't aware of their music I don't think. Someone like Beyonce will top the charts I think.
July 4, 200718 yr The Supremes certainly deserve a place in the top 40 Not sure who'll be top, possibly Destiny's Child, Mary j Blige or Aaliyah??
July 4, 200718 yr Author 39th: Joss Stone: 21 Points. Voted for by Jark and Orlando; highest position 7th (Jark) http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/5/5f/Jossstone07.jpg Joscelyn Eve Stoker was born in 1987 and lived in Devon before signing a record deal; Aged just 16, she released cover album The Soul Sessions, which she followed up with an album of original material, Mind, Body & Soul. These two albums both achieved triple-platinum status in the UK and were certified Gold in the US, producing six singles. Third album Introducing Joss Stone saw Joss take creative control of her musical direction and the result is a funky and soulful collection of would-be hits. The album peaked at 12 in the UK but has fared better in the US, reaching #2 and approaching Gold status off the back of one single.
July 4, 200718 yr  You're not gonna reveal 2 a day are you? :o  The suspense is gonna kill me :o:  :P
July 4, 200718 yr Author 38th: Monica: 21 Points. Voted for by Off Da Endz, Jark, and Orlando; highest position 10th (Jark) http://www.rnbhaven.com/images/monica.jpg Monica Arnold, a popular R&B singer from Atlanta, achieved huge success in America during the late 1990s when both of her first two albums sold multi-platinum. Follow up After The Storm also fared well but demand for Monica's soft R&B ballads was arguably fading and by the time of 4th release The Makings Of Me in 2006, she was firmly out of the public eye. Monica plans to record her 5th album with the aid of Swiss Beatz, with a 2007/8 release reportedly in mind.
