Monica wasn't included in my top 20 but her last album was brilliant

Apart from The Boy Is Mine, I'm not a fan of her older material!!!

Akon, whose full real name combines a shocking thirteen names, is a music producer and hip-hop artist who according to wikipedia is either 26 or 34 - quite a difference! He has released 2 albums and 8 singles, including two UK number ones - Lonely from the Trouble album and Smack That, which was taken from Konvicted. He has worked closely with other artists such as Gwen Stefani, and is currently her support act on her US tour. Konvicted's worlwide sales are approaching 4 million and his upcoming single is Mama Afrika.

India Arie is a 31 year old soul singer from America who has won 2 Grammy awards. Active since 2001, she has released 3 studio albums. All have achieved Gold or Platinum status in the US but none has charted in the UK Top 30. Her best-performing UK single 'Brown Skin' peaked at 29 in 2001, and her fourth studio album is slated for release later in 2007.

35th: Ashanti: 25 Points.

Ashanti is a 26 year old R&B singer from New York who has released three studio albums, and a compilation album, though the latter was released as a way of getting out of her contract with the Def Jam label. She is dating fellow R&B star Nelly and her biggest hit singles include 'Rock Wit U' and 'Only U'. The latter was unusual for Ashanti in that it featured a more heavily rock-influenced beat. Ashanti has been considered by some to be a fading artist in that each time she releases an album, sales are lower than last time, and perhaps being something of an 'almost there' is reflected in that though 5 people here voted for her, none placed her in their Top 10. Ashanti's 4th studio album is rumoured to be titled The Declaration and is slated for a 2007 release.

India is so underrated in the UK!

She's an amazing song writer too!

Ready For Love is my favourite!!

 I agree with the 'almost there' statement for Ashanti though her deubt was perfect in my eyes!

34th: John Legend: 27 Points.

John Legend, so-called originally by his friends because they considered him a great talent, is a 28 year old American singer-songwriter who has released two albums. The first, Get Lifted, sold 1.7 million copies in the US, and another half a million or so globally, and produced the hit single 'Ordinary People', which UK radio DJ Jo Whiley supported on her Radio 1 show. Second album Once Again has also sold a million in the US but the singles taken from it have been bizarrely under-promoted and as such have not made much of an impact. The 4th single from that album, Stereo, has recently been released to UK music channels, and as the best song on Once Again, will hopefully be promoted for a UK release this Summer.

33rd: Mutya Buena: 28 Points.

Whether or not Mutya is an R&B artist or not could be debated, but she certainly brought a strong element of R&B into the Sugababes. When she famously left the Sugababes during promotion for 4th album Taller In More Ways, rumours began that she would record an R&B album in America. The result was much poppier than expected but Real Girl has still reached the UK Top 10 and it's lead single of the same name peaked at number 2 in the Singles Chart and has sold well. The album has received mixed reviews but in my opinion is a decent record; the funk-tinged collaberation with Amy Winehouse is particularly good. Current single Out Of Control, an upbeat Summer collaberation with Groove Armada, is being set up nicely to achieve brilliant success too :D

Eugh Akon.

YAY for Mutya and Ashanti though

LOL I think Cassie is still to come  :kink:

32nd: Michael Jackson: 28 Points.

Michael Jackson is a 48 year old musician who was born in Indiana. Originally part of the Jackson Five with his brothers, he later branched out and carved himself an incredibly successful solo career - reportedly selling an incredible 750 million albums over the world. In latter years his music has taken a back seat as accusations against him of child molestation have been settled in lengthy and hugely expensive caught battles - reportedly resulting in Jackson being so skint he has had to sell off possessions. Either way, there's no debating that hes amongst the most successful - if not THE most successful - artists ever to exist.

31st: Black Eyed Peas: 29.5 Points.

Voted for by Suus 73, Davidobowie, and Howoriginal; highest position 2nd (Howoriginal)

http://www.vnn.vn/dataimages/original/images120920_Grammy_Black%20Eyed%20Peas.jpg

The Black Eyed Peas have broken the rules by becoming a multi-platinum selling group with members of both male and female gender, and successfully combining hip-hop with pop to appeal to a huge audience. Before Stacie Ferguson, whose stage name is Fergie, joined, the Peas had released two albums, though neither was a mainstream success. The worldwide smash 'Where Is The Love?', the Peas' first single to feature Fergie, got album Elephunk off to a got start and for the first time the Peas were experiencing huge success. This was followed up with Monkey Business; their 4th studio release was a total disappointment for me personally, but it did feature three brilliant hit singles in the form of 'Pump It', 'Dont Lie' and 'Dont Phunk With My Heart'. Whilst Will.I.Am is preparing a solo album and readying hits for many other R&B singers, and Fergie continues to promote her own solo project The Dutchess, the band are still together and plan to release their 5th studio album - apparently given the tag From Roots To Fruits - later in 2007.
