Posted July 4, 200718 yr I don't know if you have haver seen these articles (!) : I found them on billboard.com ... 'Anastacia' Gets North American Release Date January 27, 2005, 12:00 AM ET Michael Paoletta, N.Y. After becoming one of 2004's biggest international success stories, Anastacia's self-titled third album will at long last arrive in North America. "Anastacia" is slated for a June 7 release via Columbia. When it was issued throughout Europe last spring via Daylight/Epic, the album debuted at No. 1 in many countries. It ended the year at No. 2 on the European Top 100 Albums chart, behind only Norah Jones' "Feels Like Home." Between April and September, "Anastacia" logged a total of 14 weeks in the top spot on that tally. It was also was the fifth biggest selling album in the United Kingdom, where it has sold more than one million copies. The single "Left Outside Alone" was the seventh-best selling single in the territory last year. Interestingly, Daylight/Epic serviced "Left Outside Alone" to U.S. radio stations last May. The track peaked at No. 5 on Billboard's Hot Dance Club Play chart and received some play on dance radio formats. In the United States, Anastacia's previous albums, "Not That Kind" and "Freak of Nature," have sold 188,000 and 290,000 units, respectively, according to Nielsen SoundScan. Earlier this month, the Chicago-born/New York-raised Anastacia received a Brit Award nomination for international female solo artist. She will compete in the category against Alicia Keys, Gwen Stefani, Kelis and Kylie Minogue. Ask Billboard September 13, 2005, 12:00 PM ET WHAT'S THE DEAL? Dear Keith, I was really looking forward to purchasing the U.S. version of Anastacia's new self-titled album back on Aug. 30. But then, I read on a bunch of Web sites that the release was cancelled. I went looking for it anyway and did not find it. However, I was able to find the U.S. version on Amazon.com and it was released Aug. 30. Why isn't available in stores but is available for purchase on the Internet? Was it officially released or not? Thanks, Aaron Hello Aaron, A U.S. edition of "Anastcia" is not available via the Internet (or anywhere else), despite what Amazon.com says. It must be a glitch in their system, as the album was never issued in America. Anastacia's self-titled album that was slated for release a few weeks ago via Epic was pulled from parent company SonyBMG's release schedule. There is no confirmed reason as to why it was not released. The set's advance single "Left Outside Alone" didn't really fair well on U.S. radio. The song peaked at No. 30 on Billboard's Adult Top 40 chart in May, and didn't really impact any other formats of radio. Additionally, her summer duet with Ben Moody -- "Everything Burns, from the "Fantastic Four" soundtrack -- failed to reach any of the charts published by Billboard or Billboard Radio Monitor. One can surmise that following the lackluster response to both of these singles at American radio, perhaps her label thought the album -- her third -- would not have been successful in America. Alternately, in an recently Reuters interview in London, Anastacia said that she doesn't want to have the responsibility of taking on another "huge territory" (North America) as her career is already very big to begin with. She also said that Epic and SonyBMG supports her decision. Anastacia's career has been very successful outside the United States, especially in Europe. So huge in fact, she's releasing a greatest hits set later this year with a handful of new songs. At this point, we assume the hits CD will only be available internationally. Her last U.S. release, 2002's "Not That Kind," sold 296,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan. How come 'Everything Burns' failed to reach any of the charts!!!!! <_< The song is so AMAZING! Anastacia said that she doesn't want to have the responsibility of taking on another "huge territory" (North America) as her career is already very big to begin with. She also said that Epic and SonyBMG supports her decision. ^^ <_< Anastacia :arrr: I think one of her dreams is to be big in the USA! When she performed at Divas Las Vegas she said that that was a dream coming true! In my opinion it frustrates her that the last albums failed to succeed and the all ' responsibility of taking on another "huge territory" is just an excuse! PS: Sorry if I'm boring you with this (old) subject! Edited July 4, 200718 yr by Luis_
July 4, 200718 yr I don't agree with you Luis. She's doesn't strike me as a person that decides to ignore the US just cause she didn't sell many albums there. Over the years she just realised the career she had in Europe was big enough for her. She also feels very at home in Europe cause of the artistic freedom over here. In the US they put labels on artists. And because there isn't just 1 label they can put on her they just don't know what to do with her. Her voice and looks seem to be very confusing to them. In Europe she was accepted straight away. I think she made a very wise decision not to pursue a career in the US. This way she gets the best of 2 worlds. She can be fairly anonymous at home and in Europe she can enjoy being famous. To be big in the US she would have to be there for at least a year promoting non stop, appearing on every tv show etc. And even then she won't have a guarantee of being as succesful as she is over here. I don't think she wants to give up Europe for that  Many times she said she liked being in Europe and she liked the atmosphere over here. Over here she can do what she wants. In the US they wanted her to lose weight and get rid of the glasses (at the beginning of her career). That was just ridiculous. In Europe its not like that. She's real and that's what we like about her.
July 4, 200718 yr I think that Sony/Epic TRIED to push her into it, plus I think she is lying in this bit: "She also said that Epic and SonyBMG supports her decision.", which is a lie me thinks as when she decided this her manager (Lisa I think it was) walked out on her. -_- Although I think Ana should bring Lisa back, at least with Lisa she had better sucess!
July 4, 200718 yr She does what she thinks is best for her career. She's old and wise enough to make her own decisions. It's her career after all.
July 4, 200718 yr I think she has done very wise desicions, cause in Europe she has a life of a diva and in the U.S her life is just like our life ^_^ she can go wherever she wants cause there won't be people trying to get a signature or a photo :P
July 4, 200718 yr I think quite a few people are jealous of the fact she can be fairly anonymous at home. Imagine you are being recognised everywhere u go.
July 4, 200718 yr And things prob ended with Lisa cause they had different ideas about Ana's career. These things happen sometimes. I don't think it was an easy decision for Ana to stop working with her.
July 4, 200718 yr Author  Nah I love these discussions! :D So say something! :P -------- WoW Suus :w00t: You wrote a LOT! :P I think she made a very wise decision not to pursue a career in the US. This way she gets the best of 2 worlds. She can be fairly anonymous at home and in Europe she can enjoy being famous. But aren't we being a little bit selfish thinking that way? -_- Think about the fans in the USA! I feel really sorry for them! :( To be big in the US she would have to be there for at least a year promoting non stop, appearing on every tv show etc. Isn't that just GREAT! Even to us! Imagine Anastacia on Oprah, Ellen, The View, David letterman Show, Today Show.. etc ... AND we can not forget that in America they have to sing live!!! :yahoo: One think I HATE is that 80% of Anastacia's performances are lip-synched! :arrr: Whatching her miming and knowing that she could sing that live in an amazing way really pisses me off! I guess JOSH is with me on this one! I think that Sony/Epic TRIED to push her into it, plus I think she is lying in this bit: "She also said that Epic and SonyBMG supports her decision.", which is a lie me thinks as when she decided this her manager (Lisa I think it was) walked out on her. -_- Although I think Ana should bring Lisa back, at least with Lisa she had better sucess! Explain that Josh! I remember Lisa but I did not know that she decided to leave Anastacia! I thought Anastacia fired Lisa  But one thing was good about Lisa not being the manager: It was so boring having that big woman always behind Anastacia! Even in the important events like awards shows: she was always behind her in the pictures! :P Edited July 4, 200718 yr by Luis_
July 4, 200718 yr She won't just decide to change her life around for fans. I know she really loves her fans but it's her life and it's up to her if she wants to make the sacrifices or not. It's not selfish, it's the best decision for her. Especially after her being sick she has to take good care of herself. And if this career she has now is big enough for her we have to respect that. This way she can do other things as well like the clothing line and the perfume. Ofcourse I feel bad for the US fans but normally its the other way around and the US get all the big artists to do shows and appearances there. I think we are very lucky she chose otherwise
July 4, 200718 yr But one thing was good about Lisa not being the manager: It was so boring having that big woman always behind Anastacia! Even in the important events like awards shows: she was always behind her in the pictures! :P VERY true, but she was an amazing manager!
