I really like the video :o Something inside me wants this to do REALLY well, just for novelty value :P But then "Dame" Shirley's head is big enough without adding a big hit to it...

 I think it'll do well just becuase its a bit of fun but at the same time...its actually good! :o :D

The song doesn't suit her voice at all, I don't like the way it's slowed down either - it loses all meaning imo  But like I said, she could have a sizeable novelty hit with it if she tried.

I thought the single was out about a month ago?

The album thinks it's clever but aint that great.

she stole the show at Glastonbury without a doubt... all these supposed 'divas' really should look to her for lessons on how to sing.... she's QUEEN Diva.

I hate the original of this song, but this version's much better..... she's got balls and attitude than Pink can only dream of.

Her last single The Living Tree was just sublime (well worth checking out - great remixes, too, surprisingly)..... and I hope this one does even better for her. Isn't that a top 40 hit in every one of the past 5 decades now?

It is, i think :funky: I agree, though The Living Tree was poor I thought and I think P!nk has PLENTY of attitude! Still, love the Dame!

Pink's 'attitude' is down to clever marketing men more than genuine balls, I think....

Living Tree is phenomenal, too... surely one of the singles of the year.....

Just heard the remixes of Party.... yep, this single's gonna be huge.... in the charts and the clubs. The remixes are something else....

I've definitely got a lot of time for any act who puts something out there that isn't just what everyone expected ... and I don't think anyone saw this coming

She's genuinely an amazing talent, and I agree this puts Pink in the shade, but that said I was never that keen on the original in the first place.

I agree TLT was brilliant aswell, and the video for this is wicked, I love the masquerade theme.

I like the ink in water effects - it's very Bond - like the beginning of the films with the silhouetted ladies.

I so, so hope this goes top 20, or even top 10, it deserves to. The intro is fabulous - very moody and dramatic.

Cringeworthy  oh and I hate it

says a Rihanna fan  Umbrella - now THAT'S cringeworthy... a song for simpletons..... sounds like a song they try to teach kids with learning disabilities.

Rihanna's not fit or talented enough to be on the same planet as an icon like Bassey. End of.

Dont be so utterly ridiculous! If you had heard half the songs on Good Girl Gone Bad like 'Rehab' and 'Good Girl Gone Bad' you wouldnt be saying that; sounds like an utterly unqualified judgement! You clearly dont understand that Umbrella is a metaphor for love and caring. If that's for simpletons, god knows we must live in a world where plain old fashioned love just isnt on the agenda.

I find 70 year old woman singing bout "west side" and "kissing my ass" (joking or not) a lot more cringeworthy than saying "you can stand under my umbrella".

It's like my grandmother singing it and that scares me

oh please - you're talking about a cheesy pop star - not bloody Kate Bush. A metaphor for love and caring - I'm laughing writing this, I really am... you crack me up, Jark, you really do. You're beyond hilarious.

Umbrella is the most toe-curlingly AWFUL number one since Crazy Frog - it's unbearably terrible.

And speaking of 'judgement' - yours must be seriously impaired if you've bought a Rihanna album :D . Nevermind - you'll be hideously embarrassed by it in 18 months and carting it off to any charity shop that will have it.
