Arctic Monkeys decided not to perform at the Live Earth gig because they did not want to look like hypocrites.

 

The Sheffield lads have admitted that they are usually unconcerned about the issue of climate change, so they realised that it would be wrong to preach to others at Saturday's gig.

 

"We're using enough power for ten houses just for lighting," drummer Matt Helders explained, referring to their concerts. "It'd be a bit hypocritical."

 

Bassist Nick O'Malley added: "We're always jetting off on aeroplanes

yer it would be quite hypocritical....i respect them for there decision though ^_^
they could definitely increase their album & single sales...it was a brave decision

Well they could have done but I think they made the right choice tbh and add that to the fact they played T In The Park the night before Live Earth as well. Hopefully the album might go Top10 this week, unlikely, but possible.

I sure hope so! I think the only big album out this week is The Enemy's and last week if you sold about 24k you could go Top5 in the album chart so who knows? :lol:
