I usually go to the same one because I have confidence in the people there. They're very nice and they also know their stuff and in addition they're very quick. There can be a snaking queue right out to the door and you'll be at the front in a trice.

I think that really helps - I know I'd hate ours to fall vicim to the cost cutting.
I'm of an age where we used to shop in several different little shops with different atmospheres and personalities, so I still look for that by preference but now I have to travel across the city to seek them out.
I lived in the London area since I was 18 and most of the shops were more supermarket types then. We did have a local butcher who was lovely.
We still have a local butcher and hardware shop but we've lost our greengrocer and fishmonger . We have gained a lovely Italian deli though.

We now have lots of expensive clothes shops. Even if I were rich, I wouldn't pay the prices. I don't even LIKE the clothes if they weren't expensive.

Finally got my father-in-law in bed.

Glad you had a good time Preston.

I wouldn't shop in expensive clothes shops either. Apart from the fact I don't like many of the clothes, I hate the way the sales assistants watch your every move or are overbearingly "helpful"

Just back from a meal to celebrate my daughter's 18th birthday. Went to familiar haunts - Leicester Square. We ate in TGI Friday and Claire had a voucher for a free bottle of champagne which was very nice. She and I also ordere a couple of cocktails afer the meal and then we were told they were on the house (not bad since they were £5.25 each.

To work off our food we walked along the Southbank to the Millenium Bridge and St Paul's and caught the train home. Knackered now.

It sounds great though. Wish her 'Happy Birthday' from me, please. She's nice.

Glad you had a good meal...with extras :)

Wish her happy 18th birthday for me

DD - which Uni....seems very early for a Uni start

Paula's gone now. :( :)

Just down the road to John Moores in Liverpool

Her room is just up the road from The Empire would have been really handy if she had been there earlier.

I think she enrolls next Sunday.
