They literally just came to make sure he was wh he said he was and the age he said he as. They were late and I din't get his lunch until 2:30. It put him out all day and today as well. Then, as they left, they said that they'd phone us 2 days before his birthday to make sure he was still alive. I would like to tell them what to do with the card from the Queen but, he really is looking forward to getting it.

I had more problems postingand had to restart my computer. It's been troublesomeall day.I even tried to get on to buzzjackbackup but couldn't.

I hope the people who came at least chatted to him for a while and didn't just rush in and be officious. When is his hundredth birthday? It's an achievement to live that long.

They didn't rush in but they gave up trying to talk to him. Such a shame with his 'perfect' hearing.
Loss of hearing was the one thing my father vehemently denied to his dying day. We were always mumbling - that was all that was wrong.
It's my screechy voice. Goodness knows why he can't hear anyone else

He does. He says he's not used to the acent. I don't know how he managed when Dave was growing up though, because he still can't understnd his own son's acent.
Screeching and an accent - good ones so far.

So much disruption for a birthday card from the Queen. You'd think they'd accept his birth certificate. What a waste of money sending people round like that.
What happens to 100 year olds who have never felt the urge to leave the UK and who've never applied for a passport? I should think there will be a reasonable number.
I know a few who didn't get a card because their familys didn't realise you had to apply.
Not always. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. You have to make sure it does if the person really wants a card.
I've never seen one of those cards from the Queen. No-one in my family has lived that long.
