The Beatles Story Liverpool has announced that it is planning an expansion programme of its Albert Dock attraction, which will more than double the size of the exhibition area.

It is also planning to improve visitor facilities as part of the £1m plus investment.

The new exhibition space will be created in the basement adjacent to the venue which is currently vacant. The management is confident that the new facilities will be ready for the start of Liverpool 08.

The new attractions will include rooms celebrating the solo careers of George Harrison and Ringo Starr, space for temporary exhibitions and a “hands-on” interactive children’s learning centre. The management is hoping that the additional space will also attract more corporate events and related commercial opportunities.

Jerry Goldman, director of the Beatles Story said: “We are delighted to announce the new developments at our attraction. The Beatles Story wholeheartedly supports Liverpool’s Capital of Culture status and we look forward to welcoming more visitors from across the globe. Providing translated versions of our Living History audio guide in seven languages has demonstrated the fantastic welcome we offer overseas visitors – a welcome that is unique in both Liverpool and the entire UK.”

The Beatles Story opened in 1990 and has received over two million visitors to date.
